Today (5/5/2016) bwf has published the ranking lists to be used to allocate the athletes Quota Places for RIO 2016.

Below are the no of top 16 players that missed out just because they are too good or born in the wrong place/country.

One of the key pushes of Olympic movement is to forward the diversification and representation among the five-color rings from time to time. I look forward to seeing one day in the near future the limit is further narrowed to one rep only in any discipline for even broader medal distribution. But still much wondering how can they ever incorporate the PC new normal of orientation in this still gender-based event one day...

Well, max 2 representations per NOC per event seems to be the norm among most sports in the Olympics.

Yeah despite the effect of such measure on the general level of the competition, diversification is very important for the growth of the Badminton as an international sport. Badminton is still far behind other sports in Europe and America in terms of popularity, funding, media coverage

Yeah, we guessed this a while back in Ko's thread. He was struggling playing back to back tournaments in both XD and MD disciplines. Now he has a higher chance to medal by concentrating on XD with KHN... although gotta pity poor SBC who doesn't get to go anywhere...
