My post about possible reasons for WO was made with the intention to give readers a laugh, not bashing Lin Dan.
Good news! Now people can stop complaining about the WO / withdrawal / et cetera. We gonna see whether these kinds of restricting regulations can stop any one with brain from tweaking "the system" to maximize benefits from the heavily point-driven systems in place at present
Wow Lin Dan lost. Ahsan/Setiawan lost. My friend is not going to be happy! He was looking forward to watching them at the stadium from the quarter-finals!
I think it is unfair to expect LD to play two tournaments well at his age. Personally, I think it is very odd for LD to lose 8 Points in a roll in the 3rd game after interval. One reason could be he ran out of energy. The other possibility is to save energy for Indonesia open which he can get more points.
I find all these over-analyzed post or conspiracy theory amusing lol... Vicktor simply played one hell of a match that even Lin Dan can't win against. Case closed.
Wow, young VA has beaten the so-called "greatest badminton player in history"! Keep it up Viktor! You have given confidence to other young players to continue the same feat.
The only excuse I can accept is : Too much inside-nose stuff, will contaminate the arena if he plays. - He is a considerate person. The rest are not because : -Bad hair day - His hairstyle is nice compared with his younger days. -A case of critical sunburn - He is well tanned and immune to sunburn. -Hangover - from what? winning? He been there done that. -Accidently inhaled grip powder which led to acute asthma - Not sure about this.
You guys are rather pathetic for discussing a lost of sport match at the great length and taking fun to ridicule the loser. No wonder you all are seeking some kind of problematic situation here.
I would call that entertainment... the way KKK walks around the court like a baby when he's out of stamina, and lobs the shuttle to the baseline.... until the opponent starts to thunder down smashes, then he gets back into serious defense posture, slightly more alert. LOL! Those fancy-nancy moves are here to stay in his game as well... probably till his retirement. TBH has improved a lot in the front court, so that maybe a slight advantage. Can't wait to catch their game, the first game of the day, against China tomorrow.
The reason LD lost is because he is generous...now, who said this famous words not so long ago....Hmmm. Okay, loosen up, have some fun and humour...we do not need to get too serious eh???
I will call that Bull! LCW is (was?) phenomenal, LD was a little better not leagues better as you say. And a SS is more difficult since there are serious mismatches in initial rounds due to country quotas in OG/WC. To wit, the AO 2015, where LD would never have faced VA in the first round if it were OG/WC . Have not read the rest of this discussion but VA played fantastic, with outright smash winners. LD lost despite trying hard. The competition will surely smell blood.
Whether Lin Dan still has it in him, the upcoming World Championship should give us a better ideal. As Peter Gade recently said, "[Lin Dan] is still the best player. He has shown that on several occasions. If there's a question then it's a question whether he wants to play."
Minor Controversy: At the end of the match between Hirata/Hashimoto and Lu/Liu, Liu hits a smash that appears to be out but is called in by the linesman on match point. One of the Japanese players is too mad and refuses to shake hands with the Chinese players. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vneglTeV9Vw
I noticed such little fuss at the terminal of the match as well, that JPN player even threw away and kicked his racket... wonder why didn't they challenge the dubious line-call ?? don't think they already used up their challenge rights nonetheless the CHN young pair played impressively, they look promising!
