I read the squad in a newspaper and haven't seen anyone post here yet.

    Mens Singles

    • Boonsak Polsana
    • Sappanyu Avihingsanon

    Womens Singles

    • Porntip Buranaprasertsuk
    • Ratchanok Inthanon
*based on recently form there is no surprise that Salakjit isn't in the squad.

    Mens Doubles

    • Sudket Prapakamol/Songphon Anugritayawon
    • Maneepong Jongjit/Bodin Issara

    Womens Doubles

    • Kunchala Voravichitchaikul/Duang Anong Aroonkesorn
    • Saralee Thungthongkam/Savitree Amitrapai
**I've just made a guess that they might be pairing like this.

    Mixed Doubles

    • Saralee Thungthongkam/Sudket Prapakamol
    • Kunchala Voravichitchaikul/Songphon Anugritayawon
***But Maneepong Jongjit/Savitree Amitrapai have been playing well recently.

Quite surprising, THA selects Suppanyu instead Tanongsak as second MS. THA will bring only 12 players to Qingdao, so efficient team ;)

Yes it's official, I read about the squad on the newspaper. The BAT announced the squad on 10-05-2011.

I don't know where is Tanongsak and I haven't seen him in international tournaments for sometimes now but he was in a national tournament in Krabi. Either he isn't fit enough or the coaches think Sappanyu is better (probably not IMHO).

If Tanongsak is not injured, then why choose Sappanyu over Tanongsak? Seriously, I've never heard of Sappanyu before.

This is a good question, of course. Suppanyu had a bit of success recently. He handled the pressure to beat Daren Liew at the Asian Games and send Thailand to the semi-finals. He then was runner-up at the India Grand Prix in December.

Mixed looks pretty solid, saralee and sudket were finalists in all england 2011, kunchala and songphon won victor bwf superseries 2010 (awesome game against the strong zhao yun lei and zhang nan).. songphon reminds me a bit of nova widianto.. less tricky.. but similar game

I don't think Tanongsak is injured as I said he was playing in Krabi Open in April and he won too but I have no idea why he isn't in the squad and also haven't played in GP and SS tournaments.

ETA: I've just read from thaibadminton board that Tanongsak has a problem with BAT.

SIGH... politics again? Wasn't it last year that there was a problem between the top players and BAT?

Songphon/Kunchala did not win the Super Series Masters Finals, they just beat Zhang/Zhao in the group stage but lost out in SF. I would say their mixed doubles are pretty good, but not consistent enough. Sudket/Saralee just lost for the second time to the lowly-rated Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying, Songphon/Kunchala also lost to this Malaysian pair recently, and their performances since the AE have been subpar.

Yep last year many senior players even some coach had a problem with BAT, BAT wanted all the players to sign a team contract to Yonex (I think) but top players'd already had their own sponsor so who didn't sign the team contract to BAT then they would have to pay all the expense by themselves and they didn't know that BAT would limited their chance to play or not hence they decided to strike. (It was on the news so I don't know they might have had more conflicts)
Totally agree with you on XD so I can only hope they gonna win. Honestly at AE, I didn't think Sudket and Saralee would make to the final so anything is possible.

This squad looks promising, no wonder that Thai can be considered as a new dark-horse in this tournament...

Their Women team is awesome( got silver medal on Asian games 2010)...

I watched MS THAI v INDIA, where Bonsaak wore Yonex clothes but his racket is LiNing N90 II. isn't he supposed to be sponsored by LiNing? why would he wear Yonex?

I think the reason might be since this is a team event, and Yonex is the team apparel sponsor, he is obliged to wear it.

I believe it's because this is a team event so the players have to wear the same jersey. So under TBA sponsor, the official jersey should be Yonex.
