Yup, the tighest match of qualifying round. And Xue S will get Tian HW as his first round opponent tomorrow, interesting match.
Meanwhile CHinese 16+ yo girls are going big guns. Chen Xiaoxion has beaten German veteran Simone Prutsch and Gao Fanjie has taken a set from her 19 yo compatriot. Chen Xiaoxin actually lost 21-19, 21-19 to Japanese prodigy Akane in WJC. Another 16 yo Chen Yu Fei has withdrawn
Four WS main draw tickets are bagged by home shuttlers, Qin Jinjing, Chen Xiaoxin, Shen Yaying, Fan Mengyan.
Wong WK lost to Gao Huan 6-21 at the decider. He was stretched 3 games earlier by LJW whereas Gao Huan received a bye and was much fresher. This is not fair but, hey life is not fair after all.
Two matches with a two-hour break may seem too much, however there are players who said they can manage for a single day,esp when it's the opening round but not again the following day and thereafter. It's always not fair to the qualifiers who have to play two matches a day except for those given a bye.
ROUND OF 32 (10.00am, 5 courts) order of play => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...2490F8-9D1C-4B42-B715-915DAB1DC208&d=20141112 We'll see some intriguing ties tomorrow : - Ouseph (ENG) v Zwiebler (GER) - Kashyap (IND) v Wei N (HKG) - Chou TC (TPE) v Lee DK (KOR) - Nehwal (IND) v Takahashi (JPN) - Sung JH (KOR) v Liu X (CHN) - Bae YJ (KOR) v Porntip (THA) - Marin (ESP) v Tai TY (TPE) - Ivanov/Sozonov (RUS) v Conrad/Kolding (DEN) - Hoon TH/Tan BH (MAS) v Endo/Hayakawa (JPN) - Lu K/Huang YQ (CHN) v The Adcocks (ENG)
Can't agree with you more. Yeah, LXR withdrawn citing leg injury and is flying back to Beijing for medical checkup. She will lose quite a bit of ranking points as she has also pulled out of the HK SS next week (which may not affect much as it's not included in one of the 10 tournaments used for calculation), even so with 100k+ points she can afford it and still remain as WR1, I estimate it.
Zhu Siyuan was actually holding 2 matchpoints in the decider before Gurusaidutt forced deuce and edged him out in the end. If I'm not mistaken, ZSY is a provincial level player who last played in the CBSL and once beat Taufik Hidayat. Gurusaidutt was lucky to benefit from a walkover given by Huang Yuxiang and could start fresh against Zhu Siyuan, yet nobody mentioned this but someone purposely pointed out Vincent Wong's case in losing the second match to Gao Huan;clearly double standard and hypocritical of him. WJC Lin Guipu acquitted himself well beating Vladimir Ivanov, no mean feat, and less than two hours later was defeated by Xue Song, the break in-between may be too short; same for Vincent Wong who lost his second match to Gao Huan. But Guo Kai in a similar situation managed to beat Sattawat followed by overcoming the AJC Shi Yuqi.
With the last-minute withdrawal of LXR, Saina looks to have a relatively easy path to the semifinals. LXR, the defending champion, expressed disappointment at having to withdraw from the tournament as Fuzhou where BAYI team of PLA is located is like a second home to her. She vowed she'll be back next year and the following.
Scores seems strange.. Guru seems like off colour. But when I heard his post match interview, I came to know about his recent injury . "Yesterday the drift was on the other side. I could not judge the speed of the shuttle. I felt the lack of match practice as I had a knee injury after the common wealth games and I pulled out of europian circuit. I trained for just 3 weeks." When he was asked about meeting his compatriot srikanth in the first round, he said "yes. it will be awkward . It's a different feeling when you come on court because we are good friends and we have grown up together. I trail 1-2 in the h2h. But I hope I can win him tomorrow." Now I could understand why he withdrawn from so many tournaments . Hope he does well in the first round though it will be very difficult for him.
Noway..srikanth is way better.. And even if RMV wins he cannot win the match following... As well its a do or die situation for both KS and PK of they want some points in SSF rankings.. To seal their chances
(Just joking)I wonder if our pro players read our posts in BC...if they do it will be a mater of high pressure on SN..as ST is not a easy meat just like Eriko..moreover their previous meeting gave me a mini heart attack as she lost G1..tamely
Actually , top half in the WS is not easy one either. If they consider liu xin, li han, ratchanok, sayaka takahashi, ratchanok, sung ji hyun etc are easy prey, then I pity them. Li han has beaten Ratchanok multiple times. Assume how she would be. Liu xin, imho, she is one of the title contender. Dont forget, she won this title 2 years back I think. Ratchanok, sung ji hyun , sayaka.. OMG.....so, top half is not an easy half as if some members are suggesting. Anyway, I could not catch the live actions. I can see the results when I get time at the end of the day.
Define power index (p) as 1 - beatable, where beatable is the % for average capable winner rate against her, where capable winners are the players who are capable to win the title, including: LXR, WYH, WSX, JHS, HJB, SN, RI, TYT, (all seeds) and C Marin, Liu Xin, Sun Yu, Akane Yamaguchi, Han Li, Zhang BW. From h2d statistical calculation, we can get LXR power index (p) around 90%, then LXR = .9 WYH, WSX = .8 CM, RI, JHS = .6 HJB, SN = .5 Liu Xin, Sun Yu = .2 TYT, AY, HL, ZBW = .1 All others are close to 0. Therefore, in WS draw, the top 1/4 total Power index = SN = 0.5 (LXR withdraw w/ 0.9) the 2nd 1/4 total Power index = JHS + LX + RT + HL = 1.5 the 3rd 1/4 total Power index = HJB + ZBW + WYH = 1.6 the 4th 1/4 total Power index = WSH + CM + SY + TYT + AY = 1.8 Clearly, the top 1/4 is the easiest. For each position, we can also calculate the winning possibilities by multiplying the least chances at each round. For Saina's position: 1x1x1x0.4x0.2=0.08 = 8% For Zhang BW's position: 1x0.5x0.2x0.2x0.4 = 0.008 = 0.8% For C Marin's position: 0.9x0.8x0.2x0.2x0.4 = 0.005 = 0.5% For WSH's position: 0.9x0.4x0.2x0.4 = 0.02 = 2% It shows clearly that SN got the easiest draw, while ZBW, CM got the toughest.
A shaky performance at first game by XD defending champion Ahmad/Natsir before they controlled game 2 smoothly, 25-23 / 21-9 against Thai pair Jongjit/Taerattanachai.
