Sort of, he's clearly not at his best but I think it's enough to beat JOJ, got to cut down those errors though

Well, to be fair, both players had a high error rate in the first game.

Chen Long got the return he wants and hits it wide to hand G1 to JOJ, 22-20

Chen Long's stamina and agility are excellent.

The same can not be said about Sun Yu. I don't know what Chen Jin can do. With WYH, WSX and possibly LXR retired, this Tokyo Olympic cycle could be worst than the Rio one for Chinese Women's Singles.

You can't take a three months' break and expect to be at your best straightaway.

With her physical characteristics, that's her best chance as she is not particularly smart in reading her opponent's game and anticipation

Chen Long making that stupid mistake, back turn and playing a straight drive where JOJ is waiting at the net,. that's how LCW used to catch him

He always seems to be able to up his game when playing against the big guns. He really needs to do this consistently against lower ranked players.

Herry IP needs to reshuffle the remaining pairs though. Having seen their performances over the past 2 years, it's also clear that Angga Pratama/Ricky Karanda Suwardi don't have the capability in them to be a real top pair. They have been bundled out of SS tourneys very early (such as to Lu Kai/Zheng Siwei this week). The only bright moments from them were from the team matches at the Thomas Cup Qualifiers and Finals (where they were unbeaten).

Berry Angriawan/Rian Agung Saputro are also going nowhere with their performances at the moment. I hope younger players like Rinov Rivaldy can be promoted to the senior stage early.
