Congratulations to Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon for winning their first Super Series Premier title in China this year! That makes it 3 SS/SSP titles (India and Australia SS; China SSP) and 1 GPG title (Malaysia GPG) for this pair this year. And for Kevin himself, it's 5 titles that he wins this year, including the additional GPG title he won with Wahyu Nakaya in the Indonesia Masters 2016. It's clear by now that Kevin/Marcus will be aiming for the big titles next year - All-England and the World Championships in Glasgow. They will also qualify for the Dubai Super Series Finals this year. Let's see how they perform in that tourney. As for the Hong Kong SS next week, they will likely face tough matches right from R32 (possibly Lu Kai/Zheng Siwei), followed by either Takeshi Kamura/Keigo Sonoda or the dangerous HKG pair Tang Chun Man/Or Chin Chung in R16. In QF, either Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen [3] should await them (unless there's an upset).
You must check her pics she recently shot for a magazine. She'd give any model a run for her money. Beating He Bingjiao / Sun Yu and the host of upcoming chinese talent in China is indeed big! I can definitely see an improved version 2 sindhu post olympics. Her body language is very different and positive as compared to earlier. Yesterday's win against Sung must have boosted her confidence to a different level again. It would be interesting to see how Saina copes with with the pressure. Now the added pressure from the rise of Sindhu. I am not aware of the extent of her injury and the progress of her rehabilitation. All i know was it wasn't a ligament injury so that basic support system of the knee is still intact. I predict her rise till the end of this year. She should be a formidable player again. Will need few tournaments to get back to the rhythm. There will few early round exits but she should hang in and her time will definitely come.
Sun Yu would do well to study Chen Long's game and learn a thing or two, difficult for her to emulate Lin Dan or LCW, very different styles and characteristics from hers.
Once Chen Long has raised his game another level as in the Rio Olympics where he's at his quintessential best, he must try to maintain that level or even improve further if possible and not backslide or go back to his old ways. Usually, old habits die hard, and he's taken such a long break which may have disrupted his development and momentum. Still continue to work on it diligently and he'll get there again for good , I hope.
