Not sure the ticket organizer for this usa open had started their project to sell tickets for this tournament. but if tournaments in Malaysia or Singapore, the tickets wil be up for sale 4-5 months before the tournament and its selling like HOT cakes though
US's no.1 MS got beaten twice in a row in Boston Open. Once by Mike Bares from Canada, once by a club coach who is from INA. There are many strong oversea players in US today, maybe they can beat TH?
I agree with you on this, Chris! Maybe some US players want to volunteer for this... Halim Haryanto? Vita-Nadia can join him there too... So, the US audience can see: Taufik-Halim [not easy to beat for most of the US Open MD competitors] Taufik-Vita [very awesome to watch] Halim-Nadia [just to complete the pairings] Yes, exactly Hau-ge! TH won't be defeated in MS by anyone based in the American continent today... Sorry, this is a fact, not an arrogant statement.
Hmm.. ..my 3 sens.. From what i've seen and know, there are only 6 "capable" MS players/players in the U.S. (locally born or strong oversea players/coaches) who can challenge Taufik: - Raju Rai - Howard Bach - Holvy De Pauw - Lee Hock Lai (from MAS) - Tony G. (maybe) - Halim H. (maybe) - Maybe a few local club coaches.. Unfortunately, if you were to ask me whether those 6 can beat TH, my answer is "Sorry, but no". They could give TH some kind of a challenge, but that is all. Now, if you were to ask me whether Taufik can be beaten in Doubles, then my answer is "Yes". ..you can come back here for a visit, can't you??..
I think these 2: Holvy De Pauw and Lee Hock Lai (from MAS) <- (just saw him in Boston Open) still have a chance.
i have seen both of them play also. with all due respects, i think Holvy will get closer than Lee, but still not even close.
I disagree, I think that six players should be able to beat Taufik or even Lin Dan if they team together more like Men's "hexagonal" vs Taufik?
Let me give you an idea based on the result from the recent exhibition in Vancouver Canada. Mike Beres bt your country's #1. Mike Beres is not nearly as good in terms of MS than our national #1 ranked Andrew Dabeka(CAN) Andre Tedjono(INA) bt Andrew Dabeka Joachim Pearson(DEN) bt Andre Tedjono Taufik Hidayat TRASHED Joachim in the final. That's how far the US #1 is from Taufik.
mike beres is 35 or 36 now. He use to be much better but yes,i have the same thots. Even in doubles,he doesn't smash as hard anymore. Check this recent video, he's being pick on by some young asian kids http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRlX7rYXVWs
According to some of you, TH should get US open championship easily. But as we all know, his recent performance is disappointing … and lazy( or slow too), if I may. I remember the last one I watched, he used too much backhand, and some of those landed out. Well, I guess it’s a good chance to see how far TH has fallen then... maybe he can still make it.
if TH is playing an US MS player, we couldn't tell he is playing easy or not, coz it would be too easy
Taufik is confirmed coming...and the rest of the participants.. ..from what i've received today (from the organizer), barring any last minute changes or cancellation, these countries will participate. More news later on who's actually coming: Taufik is confirmed. Countries so far : Canada (our best customers) China (this is a first in quite a while) Chinese-Taipei Denmark England (after a yr hiatus) Indonesia (after a yr hiatus) Jamaica Japan (after a yr hiatus) Korea (after a yr hiatus) Malaysia (after a yr hiatus) Netherland Pakistan Philippine Russia (after 2 yrs hiatus) Thailand *madbad, i don't see any reason for you not to come this time.. *master kwun, i'd suggest taking a week off.. *HiddenPower, start booking your air ticket. If not, you have plenty of time to drive cross country.. *ye33, time to take a summer vacation.. Yes, we will plan a BC get-together..
I believe the Chinese players are based in US or Canada or ones in Europe coming to USA....from Malaysia..it could be Lee Hock Lai only.. Chris, get all those entry list and put it here...it is awesome
i don´t think Holvy de Pauw will play like he had professional training and sparring as he should be semi retired also... Has anybody ever seen Tony Gunawan or Halim play singles? Like Cai Yun beating Taufik in the world junior championships some double players are not bad in singles. From the list of countries i can still figure some challenge for Taufik.
