    MS (R16)
    Lin Dan v Ronald
Will be a noisy match, don't think the Olympic result will repeat - Ronald is on good form but so is Lin Dan (Lin 75%)
    Hafiz v Ng Wei
Ng Wei was a little out-of-sorts against Rasidi, Hafiz is on good form in his complacent sort of way (Hafiz 70%)
    Peter v Chetan Anand
Anand did well to take out lacklustre Dicky but Peter did very well against a never-say-die Shon SM (Peter 90%)
    Taufik v Sairul
Sairul streamrolled Lee Cheol Ho, Taufik steamrolled Simon and Sairul will hope he looks good flat (Taufik 80%)
    Kuan Beng Hong v Bao
Kuan looks destined to stay in the middle league (Bao 85%)
Lee Hyun Il v Lee Chong Wei
Lee Hyun Il did well to beat a fighting Lee TS and will now face a different Lee altogether (Lee CW 70%)
    Agus v Chen Hong
Agus took forever to beat his team-mate Yohan (Chen Hong 90%)
    Kenneth v Chen Yu
Chen Yu defeated crowd-favaurite Xia. Kenneth very convincing against Roslin (Kenneth 70%)

    WS (R16)
Xie v Yu Hirayama (Xie 95%)
Zhou Mi v Li Li (Zhou 90%)
Jiang Yanjiao v Yonekura (Jiang 55%) - match of the day
well, based on Jiang's defeat of Yao Jie, she has to start as favourites
Nedeltcheva v Hwang Hye Youn (Hwang 55%)
Bulgarian took out another seed - Hallam - but I still favour the Korean
    Meemek v Mia (Mia 95%)
Mia should be as fresh as ever, getting a walkover from Xu Huaiwen
Popat v Pi Hongyan (Pi 90%)
Wang Chen v Kaori Mori (Wang 60%)
Zhang Ning v Xing Aiying (Zhang 95%)

All the seeds are safe except for Lee Jae Jin-Lee Kyung Won who got pipped in a very exciting match by Xie Zhongbo-Zhang Yawen.

I think all the seeds (and Xie-Zhang) are favourites in the R16.

Possible upset by Jung Jae Sung-Lee Kyung Won up against 4th seeds Chen-Zhao

Indonesian MD pairs impressive in the 1st round, as expected. If Luluk/Alven (against Thai qualifier) and Kidho/Markis (against Lie/Njoto) win, they will have a 100% success rate in the 1st round.

So far, Candra/Sigit (beat Patapol/Sudket), Flandi/Eng (beat Chan/Koo) and Riyadi/Gunawan (beat Lin/Fairuz) are through to the 2nd round tonight.

A miserable day for Malaysian MD. Out of 6, only one or two may survive the opening round, although it must be said that luck is not on Chan/Koo's side to get drawn with Flandi/Eng.

    WD 1st Round Result
    All the seeds safely through.
The 2nd Round will be held tonight. I expect all 8 seeds to qualify for the Qfinals tomorrow.

In the MD, the 1st Round is almost over. The match between Cai/Fu and Choong/Lee is the only one yet to start.

Lousy day for Malaysia MD as they show that they have quantity but not quality. 5 of the 6 pairs crashed out in the 1st round. Only Tan/Ong is through to the next round.

All 5 Indon pairs made it to the next round. Impressive.

The Danes are not doing bad themselves, with 4 of 5 pairs advancing.

Overall, no major upsets in the MD. Wong/Chew gave a walkover to Lindley/Roebuck.

Very bad day for Malaysia. There could be no Malaysian playing tomorrow.

    WS all out
    XD all out
MS - Kuan and Sairul probably will be out, must depend on Lee CW (v Lee HI)
MD - only Tan/Ong left, they take on 6th-seeded Mogensen/Boe now
WD - only Chin/Wong left, they take on Hallam/Munt later tonight

    Tan/Ong looks like getting thrashed.
Sairul is giving a fight to Taufik, but with the black cloud over Malaysia today, he will probably lose, too. Anyway, no one can fault him. He is fighting Taufik after all.

It seems like Malaysia's bad streak continues.

    Ong/Tang were crushed by Boe/Mogensen: 15-3, 15-3!

Lee Hyun Il won 1st 15-13 over Lee Chong Wei. Close fight so far. 4-1 now to LCW in 2nd. LCW seems to have almost pulled off a great comeback from 6-12 in 1st, so maybe he has gained momentum now.
