hi, not sure if this was asked before, but during a doubles match last week, my partner hit a net shot and the shuttle actually came to rest on top of the net without landing on either side. We just ended up replaying the point, but my question is:
    1. is it an automatic fault. Who's at fault here if it is?
    2. is the receiving side allow to hit the shuttle? either tap it or kill it? would it considered a fault if their racquet crossed the net?
    3. are we allowed to blow on it? would it be interference?

    thx :)

It should be called a let
14.1 ‘Let’ shall be called by the umpire, or by a player (if there is no umpire), to halt play
14.2 It shall be a ‘let”, if:
14.2.3 after the service is returned, the shuttle is:
14.2.3.1 caught on the net and remains suspended on its top

Q 2 & 3 are not allowed in this case a play should be stopped before either scenario can occur.

    consider it your lucky day.

I have played badminton for almost 30 years. that has happened to me only once.

and for most people, they never had the chance to experience it.

(and yes, it is considered a let)

I've done it once personally and seen it a second time in another friends game.

It is a let. Blowing on the shuttle at anytime during the match is not allowed. You are altering the flight of the shuttle. In a quick bang bang moment, if the shuttle gets stuck on top of the net but part of it is on your side, you can strike the shuttle to kill it. (At that point it's hard to tell it will stay on top of the net so you can just brush it over and win the point).
