[IMG]Did he actually say it? If so, was he referring to his career threatening ankle injury or the “injury” that forced him to retire in the match against KM?

I heard a friend said his instagram post is hinting at retirement. Anyone heard rumors like that?

Thought it was other way around.. It mentioned "sorry to disappoint you guys.." addressed to those hinting at his retirement.

I believe CBA will let him take a break, say, three to six months or so, to self-reflect and take stock of his life before coming to any final decision.

Next Thomas Cup will be in 6-month time, for sure CBA will find a direction by then. Getting TC back has to be a top priority and MS is to take the heavy lifting in order to achieve that.

Ive lost respect of him retiring at match point against KM. Still can laugh during interview. No sportsmanship at all.

Still flogging a dead horse. For goodness' sake, the chap is facing a personal crisis arising from his injury in 2019 that snowballed over time, and he's now beset with self-doubt, loss of self-confidence and inner belief, probably in depression, even contemplating quitting badminton for lack of passion for his beloved sport and profession.

What he needs most now is professional help, care and concern, empathy and support from us, fans or not; what's more, Momota himself expressed unconcern about his sudden match retirement and even hoped that he's not injured or something. SYQ's mistake is one of nervous breakdown that hurt himself much more than anything or anybody, for that matter.

Let us give Shi Yuqi all the encouragement and moral support to get out of the doldrums as quickly as possible. Not only Chinese badminton will benefit greatly from such a talent as he is, I believe you'd agree with me world badminton too will be richer with him around.

For me, among the few who have bested the hotshot Momota, Shi Yuqi is the most impressive and convincing, almost running rings around him in three sensational encounters, namely at the 2018 World Tour Finals, the 2019 Sudirman Cup, and the recent 2021 Sudirman Cup.

Shi Yuqi, we await your triumphant comeback ! You Can Do It. Jiayou!

Hope SYQ will be back, we would not want to see another LiJunhui. Lest he is even younger than him. Its sad to see someone retire so young, It will probably be more tragic had he won the OG gold.

If you lose all respect you had for a player, because of one unsportsmanlike moment, there couldn't have been much respect towards the player in the first place...

Many natural talented players are not fit. Maybe they tends to run less by controlling the game. Today, many fit players are technically strong. So, to beat them, you cannot play the 'expected shots'. Shi Yuqi has them but he is over the hill due to injuries. China needs to look for new Shi Yuqi, the current batch cannot make it. Indonesia once upon a time produce 'skilled players'. Today, they also lack the physical strength. That is why the game is so interesting.

Is he suspended as a punishment or something? Looking at the performances on the world championship, i think he is the best they have at the moment.

Back to provincial team at the moment, it's still vague whether the retirement call is getting closer or not...

Here is the Google translation. The translation is not very good, but you should get the gist of what is reported.

Recently, Guoyu has announced the plans for international competitions in March and April. Judging from the list of players that have been announced, all the main players of Guoyu have played, except for Shi Yuqi, the current men's singles number in Guoyu.

After Shi Yuqi retired from the Thomas Cup last year with an injury, he has not participated in the competition again, nor has he entered the national team training. The 2021 Thomas Cup ends on October 17, and it has been almost 5 months since then. In addition, Shi Yuqi has not signed up for March and April. It seems that Shi Yuqi will have to rest for at least half a year.

There are various opinions about Shi Yuqi's failure to sign up for international competitions. Some say that he was suspended by the national team, and some say that it is because of injury. In fact, although Shi Yuqi has not participated in the national team training recently, nor has he signed up for international competitions. But he still occasionally appears in the sight of the Chinese, such as receiving local rewards last year and interacting with local fans. From the appearance of the situation, the action is not a problem. As for why the injury has not been healed for half a year, it is estimated that it is an old injury.

As we all know, Shi Yuqi suffered a major injury in 2019. Since then, the injury has been repeated repeatedly, and he has not returned to his best state. Shi Yuqi also revealed in the interview that his state has only recovered to 80% at most.

In any case, we still hope that Shi Yuqi can fully recover from his injury and return to the national team. At present, the national badminton men's singles is at a low point. Shi Yuqi is the only national badminton player who can compete with the world's top players. We hope that the national team can create a good recovery environment for him and help him recover as soon as possible.
