This self introduction has been long overdue :)

Hello, I'm Rommel, though my friends call me Mela (this is my Japanese nickname). Born in a year of a Dragon where Scorpio rules the skies. Filipino. Used to be a pool/billiard addict (well I still am).

Been playing since last last year. Self-taught (read online books and articles, watch videos). Actually, I caught the game bug by accident. There was a company sportsfest and I just signed up that I wanted to play, well ended up practicing with the more able players of our team. I still remember my first 3 minutes (or so) playing, I was so exhausted! The next day most of my body was aching though, I haven't stopped playing since that day (unless I'm sick, of course, well tried to play when I had a fever, bad experience). I try to play at least once a week. To keep my stamina up. Now I can play for 5 hours with around 5-10 minute rest interval in between matches. :) I've come a long way since my first day.

My first rackets were all RSL (3220 and 4900) as I said to myself I wouldn't buy those expensive Yonexes :) Well look at me now, all of my RSL have been handed down to family members and my bag contains 3 Yonex Cabs and a Mizuno racket. I'm still trying (very hard) to stop myself from buying another racket :)

No tournament experience so far. Well given my current work schedule I really can't fit a tourney. Been thinking (for a long time) of having formal training but until know its still vaporware.

I hope to learn new things and share what limited knowledge I have to the other people here.

    Regards,
    Rommel.

    Nice to meet you Rommel!

If you think Yonex is expensive though, RSL does have that limited edition diamond encrusted racket too:rolleyes:

my handle is easy, "sessya"-R-G-C. sessya is an ancient Japanese word, RGC are my initials. some (most online friends from other forums) just call me "sessy".

though, my friends call me Mela or Rommel.

    take your pick :)

    Hello, welcome here.

Even though he's associated with Nazi Germany. The Desert Fox is quite the military genius. I would compare him to Hannibal Barca in that both were given so little yet accomplished so much.

    Welcome to BF, Rommel:)!

I do hope my name doesn't offend anyone here, even if it's just a coincidence to be named after the Desert Fox.

I do admire his genius in warfare.

Here's a nice read for you guys out there: http://www.joric.com/Conspiracy/Rommel-M-S1.html

"Be an example to your men in your duty and in private life. Never spare yourself, and let the troops see that you don't in your endurance of fatigue and privation. Always be tactful and well-mannered, and teach your subordinates to be the same. Avoid excessive sharpness or harshness of voice, which usually indicates the man who has shortcomings of his own to hide." -- Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Johannes Eugen Rommel aka The Desert Fox

I'm in no way a great man, nor a moral preacher but I do follow what I think is correct and truthfull based on my principles... we all need to learn from each other.

With friends mostly during weekends at Taracourt (Cubao area).

Can't play during weeknights. Following my doctor's advice to get enough sleep. (hypertension stage 1) :( That might change though as I'm planning of taking up several training sessions within the month. :)

Strange. Ask him would more exercise be better or more sleeping be better?;)

(If the answer is still sleep, then change your doctor!)
