Hi all, I’m a badminton player that has played for about a year now, I was wondering if anyone could give me an advice on what badminton rackets are good for high beginner-low intermediate .

I am able to forehand clear to the back court effortlessly, smash, drop etc.

Quality Backhand clears and drops are like a 50/50.

Can anyone recommend rackets for me? Regardless of budget

What is ur current racket & at what string tension?
What do you find you are missing or lack in current racket?

I would recommend Yonex Astrox 77 or Victor Auraspeed 90k. They are both high-end rackets but with large sweet spots and pretty easy to play with.

Stay away from rackets with a compact head, like 100zz.

Strings are a personal preference, but BG80 works for most people. If you have issues with breaking your string due to mishits, go for BG65 Titanium instead. Tension around 25-26 lbs.

I’m actually trying out a few rackets like the 88D Pro and the Arcsaber 11 Play, strung at 25lbs, ultimax and exbolt 65 respectively. But hmm I’m not too sure what kind of rackets I like still.

Would you recommend the normal 77 or the 77 Pro?

Personally, normal 77 is easier to play than the newer one. More even balance

This is something you need to think ur self.
Basically anyone can play with any racket category (HH, HL, BL), but it just our preference that makes the different.
Iike heavy feel & big hitting, thus my sword are HH box frame category.
Some other prefer speed over power, thus HL sword frame category.

If you had access to test different kind of racket, i would suggest you to restrain urself from buying new racket & test as many as it can be till you find something you like while also review ur own feeling about each racket you had test. Is it to sluggist, or is it powerless, or is it harder to use, & then summarize all to look to where ur tendency of choice.

First know how stiffness racket do you prefer?
    Second HH until HL level.
    Third max tension.

Top 3 brand with their high end racket prefer below 28 lbs but the low end can reach 35 lbs.
Small brand can give 45 lbs which idk and never tried it.

If u want high end and can reach 30 or 31lbs, Lining or Victor can do that.
I don't recommend Yonex high end with tension higher than 28 lbs

Yeah I don't think a beginner or intermediate player needs to worry about what max tension brands offer

Normal 77. Haven't tried the pro but have heard it's stiffer.

My advice from one of my friends is to choose a generic “good racket” that a lot of people enjoy. Do you have any recommendations? like Arcsaber 11s etc

Find people who have those "generic good rackets" and ask kindly if you can test them! You will never know if you like it if you never tried it!

Just because someone says a lot of people enjoy a specific racket, doesn't mean it will be good for you. Remember that!

But again, make sure to test a bunch of rackets from others until you find a specific one that you enjoy!!!

    Its not quite wise advice.
You & me are different, so does with your friend. What i like might & might not your liking.
I like heavy hammer racket & im hunger for power. So any 3U HH racket are my liking, but lighter or HL racket are not my cup of tea. No matter how many like AVP / JPX & with all its hype toward the racket, my hearth never pleased by it. Even my close friend who play & grow in badminton together end up with different path from me. Im more back court & big hitter with giant axe, while he is more on mid to front & control style with all rounder sword.

Just try as many racket as you can & when you found your soul, it will answer ur call:D

Keep in mind your preferences can change over time.

Some players like a fast and flat game, some like a controlled and technical game with lots of positional play, some like power smashes and that is what they play for.

I gave or sold an astrox racquet to my friend some years ago. I think the racquet didn't gel with me. They recently gave it back to me for restringing and... I liked playing with it in the 1 game I had with it before I handed it back over to them lol.

    Head light
    Balanced
    Head heavy

    hi flex
    Mid flex
    Stiff
    Extra stiff.

Once you know which options you enjoy, it lets you narrow down your options.

That will be down to practice or technique. Changing racquet won't instantly fix that for you.

I would not recommend the Auraspeed 90k. I had it and it's too stiff for beginners - low intermediates.
