Tournament time-table Total Prize-Money : US$90,000 DRAW : https://extranet.bwfbadminton.com/d...RAW _Updated Tuesday, 06th October 2020_.XLSX 2019 WINNERS : https://bwf.tournamentsoftware.com/...4F80CD-B600-4BC7-AA0A-E1E257BCCD9E&d=20191103 MS - Lakshya Sen (IND) WS - Li Yun (CHN) MD - Di Zijian/Wang Chang (CHN) WD - Liu Xuanxuan/Xia Yuting (CHN) XD - Guo Xinwa/Zhang Shuxian (CHN) SaarLorLux Open (previously known as Bitburger Open) is the last BWF tour in the disastrous 2020, the point will be excluded from Race of World Tour Finals Ranking. The level of tournament had been degraded from Grand Prix Gold (with minimum total prize-money US$120,000) to Super 100 in BWF rebranded World Tour since 2018. Last year edition winner's list was dominated by Asian players then Europe representatives will fill podium finishers this time, except perhaps men's singles discipline. Undoubtedly, the Olympic Champ Carolina Marin will be the magnet of this S100 tournament and unstoppable to earn 5,500 point on Sunday's final as no major stumbling blocks could trouble her in WS draw. Recent DEN Open runner-up, the in-form Rasmus Gemke is much expected to sail through into last round, he's drawn alongside Vittinghus and Leverdez in top-half section. Defending champion, Indian rising star Lakshya Sen has good chance to redeem his disappointing outing in Odense. Local mixed doubles favourites Lamsfuss/Herttrich who produced impressive victory in S750 tour couple of weeks ago will be highly motivated to do same feat at home soil.
Match btw Vittinghus and Tomo saw a blunder from umpire. After mid-game interval in the 2ndgame umpire forgot to give a point to Tomo .
umpire did not forget to award a point. the line judge signalled that he did not see if the ball landed IN or OUT and the chair umpire played a let so the point was replayed.
Three Players in Isolation at SaarLorLux Open 29 October, 2020 TEXT BY BWF STAFF https://bwfbadminton.com/news-single/2020/10/29/three-players-in-isolation-at-saarlorux-open/ BWF can confirm three players have been withdrawn from the SaarLorLux Open 2020 as a precautionary measure for all participants after they were in contact with a member of their team entourage who tested positive for COVID-19. The three players: Lakshya Sen, Ajay Jayaram and Subhankar Dey will not compete further in the tournament, which began on Tuesday 27 October 2020. All three players and the team entourage have been placed into isolation in line with directives from tournament organisers, local health authorities and BWF tournament health protocols. Sen, Jayaram and Dey returned negative COVID-19 results following the testing requirements for the tournament and are in good health. _______ After father gets infected with COVID-19, Lakshya Sen pulls out in Saarbrucken Lakshya Sen was aiming to recover from an early exit in Denmark Open recently before his campaign in Germany came to an abrupt end. https://indianexpress.com/article/s...er-covid-19-saarlorlux-open-pull-out-6907539/
Thanks 4 clarifying. It was not visible. Line umpire was out of camera, so... I did not see his signal. But Vittinghus protested , for which umpire showed some sign which I thought that he was mentioning about line umpire's decision and he could not do anything about it.
Really unfortunate. This is a scary situation. Coz imagine top NT coming in future tournaments, even if one of NT members or support staff gets infected and other NT members are -ve, they won't be allowed to participate as a precautionary measure. Very unlucky to be Ajay or Dey right now, they went there spending their own money. Whats happening in football ? I guess even if one club player gets infected, others are still being allowed to play (suppose they are -ve) can anyone clarify?
I can tell you of a recent incident in German football. Serge Gnabry of Bayern Munich had tested positive just a single day ahead of the Champion's League game against Atletico Madrid. He was quarantined, the other players and staff tested repeatedly and the game went ahead as planned. Gnabry was then tested every day for the next four days with the results coming back negative each time. His initial test had been a false positive. Still amazing that there was only a single day between the positive test and the game. Edit: And you're right about the other players. In football at the highest level, this isn't a huge problem. Bayern Munich have more money than they can possibly spend, but these badminton players had to fork up their own cash to participate. They probably weren't even allowed to train.
This is nice. Still I think by now, more could be expected from the quality of the BEC streams. The resolution is OK but the FPS is just simply bad. Also I don't understand why some content end up on their YouTube channel and some content end up on this badmintoneurope.tv site. I think a lot more people know about the YouTube channel and very few people know to find their way to badmintoneurope.tv.
Subhankar Dey: SaarLorLux Open organisers did not bother to check our Covid-19 test reports Link: https://360badminton.com/news/subha...ot-bother-to-check-our-covid-19-test-reports/
A major upset saw Danish favourite Rasmus Gemke going down in three games to local player Max Weisskirchen yesterday, leaving the title contention is wide open.
It's so nice that all the german players are on court 1 today. Too bad the stream is blocked in Germany...
Big surprises in the women single as Kirsty Gilmour knocked out Carolina Marin in straight sets. I thought Marin looked slower than usual, maybe fatigue? Great win for Kirsty either way. In the second semi home player Yvonne Li was down 15-20 and 5 match points in the second set against Line Kjaersfeld but pulled a rabbit out of her hat and came back to score her first victory over the Dane! So Gilmour vs Yvonne Li in tomorrow's final.
Isn't it on TV? That's usually why they put all the local players on the TV court and geoblock the stream right, because a local TV channel is broadcasting it?
FINALS => https://bwf.tournamentsoftware.com/...38B3E6-2A2B-4213-84C0-47DE9FAB077E&d=20201101 A blistering start is expected to begin today's finale, local favourites Lamsfuss/Herttrich will be challenged by Danish number one Christiansen/Boje. WS semis offered interesting turnaround yesterday. A fantastic feat displayed by Kirsty Gilmour to stun overwhelming favourite Carolina Marin, the Scottish player frustrates the Olympic Champ when she can retrieving all Marin quality shots and forcing her opponent to run corner-to-corner, obviously Gilmour has scrutinized Marin game plan, excellent strategy to outwit the Spaniard. Line Kjaersfeldt shook her head after completed semifinal match, the Dane blamed herself who wasting golden opportunity, failed to convert five match points. The momentum swings swiftly to home hopeful Yvonne Li in deciding match. One of Popov brothers, the well-improved Toma Junior Popov makes first ever final in BWF tour, will take on NED player whom he lost in two previous encounters. Denmark is unstoppable in MD category, a promising young prospects emerge post a string of veterans retirement. Stoeva sisters are favoured to pick another WD crown.
Saarlorlux Open 2020 has been concluded, French youngster Toma Junior Popov nails his maiden title in BWF Tour, stunned more-fancied NED player Mark Caljouw in three games. Kirsty Gilmour is unstoppable to top WS podium, outclasses local hopeful Yvonne Li. A more disappointment outcome for home fans as the recent DEN Open champs Lamsfuss/Herttrich display below-par performance and bowing out to Danish combination Christiansen/Boje earlier. The Dane male player injured and asked medical treatment in early second game but this disadvantage circumstances can't stem more aggressive fourth seed to pocket mixed doubles crown.
