    Hi to you all

Been Stringing for 3 years now.

Have purchased grommets in the past in small amounts.

Looking at purchasing a large box 1500 pieces. Powerti are advertising on Amazon between £6 and £10.

Has anybody ever purchased these in the past? are they any good? as there are no reviews.

    Could anyone offer advice.

    Regards Ian

I've bought PowerTi grommets. Not that happy about them! The grommets are tearing off pretty fast. I stii have a box full of grommets but I am not using them... Instead, I am using LiNing grommets wich are way much better!

I bought 3 boxes (black, red and white) for the ability to mix and match to a racket colour. They are merely OK and you will need to replace more often rather than rotating. I have strung at 30lbs and they are still OK - the next job will get all fresh grommets no matter what. Just consider them as single use. Also, knots can damage or split the grommet quicker than better quality options. They are a little stiff so can ease out while pulling tension - especially the bottom 7+10 mains when doing the Yonex pattern. Keep pressure on the edge of the grommet with a finger nail when pulling and double check grommets after pulling anyway.

    Pros.
Cheap. Cheaper on ebay if you do multibuy ;)
Still cheap even if replace more frequently and discard a few bad ones.
    Good enough for basic needs.
Good selection of lengths so less trimming needed but unlikely to use all sizes equally.
Delivery was not slow despite coming from China.
Includes both sizes of U grommets.

    Cons.
The U grommets are 3 different colours even if you order black.
The box states between 1300 and 1500. So, lots of grommets but maybe not quite as many as you think.
Boxes are tiny and weak, too easy to mix grommets of different sizes - use tweezers to pick them out or just split into zip bags to avoid the inevitable.
1 or 2 will go straight in the bin because they do not seat properly or look rough
Not good enough for quality string jobs such as high tensions or very thin strings.

Edit: to echo above. Li-ning grommets are awesome. Look on ebay for a UK seller - Juelzglitz - who is selling small packs but might be able to do a decent price for more.

Li ning grommet boxes are great quality, very sturdy! It's about 15 euros for a box and they are really long and you have to cut them to size when you place them, perfect!

Also using some single and double T-grommets from Dennis (user named:
    JJ0907)
    f
or my AX99 where the top grommets have a hard time with 12.5kg.

And then I have a cheaper box with various size grommets for rackets that only get strung once a year with lower tensions that hold out fine and last them a few years (also bigger sizes as the li ning is just the modern 2 sizes).

100% agreed. The Li-Nings offer great value for the money.

Thank you all for your advice. I live in the UK, could anyone suggest a reputable supplier in the UK?

I got this box from a German website (bsl24) with some other stuff. These boxes are cheaper than a bag of 100 usually (thos was 13 euros or something)

Are those bags official? It half looks like they've brought a box, separated into bags and then sold for a heavy mark up.

Genuine, yes. But for sure taken from a bigger box and sold for a lot of money. Part number of the Li-Ning grommet box is AXJK006-1, there are a lot of online shops who have it listed and it’s dead cheap compared to those small bags.

Well, that's the case with everything you can buy.... i mean that a 500 ml bottle of Coca Cola is more expensive than a 2500 ml one...

Then why bother with the 500 ml that costs like ten times the price if you know that you will get the 2500 ml down as well at some point?

I'm not questioning whether it's genuine, but whether it's official.
I've got the box of Li-ning grommets myself from aliexpress. Not sure if it's cheaper than importing to UK from Europe.

I just received a 2000 pc jar of what was supposed to be 2.1mm grommets from China. I ordered through Amazon and waited over a month for delivery. The grommets seem to be of decent quality but they measure 1.93mm. This is the 3rd vendor I have tried who is advertising 2.1mm and send something closer to 1.9mm. They fall out. Recently I finished a customers racquet and as I was taking the racquet off the machine noticed a grommet sitting on the floor. Looked at the racquet, and sure enough, I had a string running through a hole with no grommet. Had to cut out and re-do.

Does anybody sell a 2.1mm grommet that is even close to 2.1mm? Even 2.05mm would be satisfactory.

Where exactly do you measure - at the tip of the sleeve or right under the head? I’d say the sleeve is a bit tapered on all grommets. I’ll be measuring the ones I have around here (Li-Ning and a cheap box from Aliexpress) tomorrow.

Right under the head. Measured with a digital caliper.

    @s_mair

Thanks very much! I see Li-ning sells a box. Will pick one up. BTW, nice looking caliper!
