Yes, I read from Indonesia Badminton fans page, they are talking about the potential of Praveen playing in MD and who will be his potential partner. Guess his potential partner need to have good front court, netting and defensive skills in order to synergies well with him.
I will support Praveen playing MD after RIO OG. However, i still prefer him to focus on XD. Possible partner would be Ahsan, if Setiawan retired. After winning 2016 AE by beating very strong pairs ZN/ZYL & JFN&CP, they should not be over confidence. Now, they should focus on OG by sharpen their skill and improve their fitness level. Judging from their current performance and momentum, in my opinion, their chance of getting medal at Rio is higher than TA/LN. I hope i am wrong & both pairs could get medals though.
Recently if only u notice, Ahsan is getting a lot better at the front. He looks comfortable there and didn't run to the back court immediately. I am not sure whether he train himslef to be a front player or he was prepared by the coach to become one.
I don't support this - he had better stay focused on XD. Indonesia has lots of MD talents, in fact I would call it that Indonesia has too much talent at MD - all that is needed is to find the synergy and belief. Results will then follow.
Bro, it has nothing wrong if Praveen plays in both MD & XD just like most of the Korean and China men's double players. FYI, playing in both events make them achieved better and they never lost their focus, their world ranking justify this statement. Neighboring countries like Thailand and Malaysia had started to adopt this methodology to their youth players to increase their performance. To date Indonesia has many talented MD players, but bear in mind, none of them is consistent except for Ahsan/Setiawan. Moreover, Praveen is young, energetic and are capable enough to play in 2 events in any open tournaments, thus don't waste his talent and youthfulness.
Talent is already there - but talent alone is no longer enough now. Belief has to be found - but this can be nurtured by improving one's mental state, and this discipline can be trained. Only then would Calibre be earned. Even Hendra Setiawan had to do it the hard way ..... and not until he won the 2007 World Championships did he attain belief, which transcended into Olympic, and multi-Asian Games/World title winning calibre.
What happened to Praveen and Debby in Malaysia? Surprising to see them losing tamely to Vanessa Neo/Danny Chrisnanta. In fact this season it is either the podium or a round 1-2 exit for the All-England champs.
I watched the game. For me, there was no energy in their last match especially for Praveen. He said in an interview that he did not get the 'feel' yet. I understand that bad days can happen to any player, but looking at their last match clearly they did not try their best. I don't know why.
This is where I think Debby could step up and make her mark as a killer from the net. Looking at previous match videos, I notice that most points from this pair comes from Debby setting up Praveen Jordan for the kill. If Jordan has an off day - then they are in trouble. If Debby could develop her own killer instinct well, whatever deficiencies in the partnership due to lack of match form could be addressed.
They seriously need a consistency now. On their best day, they can beat any pair. but then lose to some low ranked pairs on the next day.
I think Debby Susanto is pretty consistent in her play. I would say Praveen is the one that needs to be more consistent?
I also agree if they need to pull in Praveen for MD ASAP, also Debby is already stating she will retire next year. Praveen will need to be visioned for MD.
Nice to see Vita Marissa coaching Praveen/Debi. Is it because both pairs are from Djarum club? As far as I know Vita is not in PBSI coaching staff yet. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
