maybe can get another source from those at malaysia now... well....still got work to do anyway...not yet time to go home...but it's time for dinner
Any updates on the other results apart from the one broadcasted live on TV? So far we have got 4 live coverage + 1 results (Saina's victory). All the other matches (except WS) involve Indonesian pairs in action.
what is next match?who won the match between jo novita/gresya poly vs thai players? how abt mens doubles?the indo pairs vs hk pairs?
Sadly both Malaysian Women and Mens doubles Fell to the Indonesian. Both also Close match.. Only the Singles featuring our own Hashim brothers. and Julia Wong in her First Finals. Mixed doubles would be Local favourite Kennie and Kennevic vs Sudket/Saralee.
Semifinals results: MXD Asuncions beat Trikus/Minarti Sudket/Saralee beat Polii/Rizal MS Roslin beat Ng Wei Hafiz beat Boonsak WS Saina Nehwal beat Ai Goto Wong PXJ beat Umezu MD Mohd Tazari/Won Fui Lin beat Gunawan/Riyadi Njoto/Wiratama beat Yoga/Yonathan WD Polii/Novita beat Saralee/Satinee Endang/Mundiasti beat Wong Pei Ty/Chin Eei Hui
Err...how come the previous post mentioned that Mohd Tazari/Lin beat Hendra/Joko?? Which is the correct result? Anyhow, good to see an all-Indonesian final in the WD. It has been a long time since an Indonesian pair won a WD title. I only recall its the Indonesian Open some years ago...
oh yes. my mistake. was too busy trying to remember all the results. got it all mixed up. sorry.... gunawan/riyadi beat tazari/fui lin in three thrilling sets.
Checked the results at the official website. Indeed, Hendra/Joko bt Mohd Tazari/Lin in 3 close sets 18-21, 21-12, 21-19...68 mins....the longest match in PO. A great achievement for Hendra/Joko in beating Malaysian's third doubles pair. I hope this can spur them to beat Albertus Susanto Njoto/Yohan Wiratama Hadikusumo in the final tomorrow...to win their first GP title. As for Jo/Greysia...excellent result also by beating Saralee/Sathinee in 2 quick sets. They should be able to win their first title by beating their counterparts Rani/Endang in the final.
Philippine Open FINAL MEN'S SINGLES Mohd Hafiz Hashim vs Mohd Roslin Hashim -- an all-Hashim affair...and the younger Hashim should prevail. WOMEN'S SINGLES Saina Nehwal vs Julia Wong Pei Xian -- both youngsters have impressed this week, esp Saina. The slightly more experienced Saina holds a slight edge. She has become my favorite non-Indonesian women's singles player now. A 4* title will boost her confidence and ranking by a great deal! MEN'S DOUBLES Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi vs Albertus Susanto Njoto/Yohan Wiratama Hadikusumo -- Indonesia's no 3 pair has done the toughest job by beating the top seed in 3 close sets. They have been fairly consistent this year, losing only 3 matches: to Choong/Lee (ABC Round 1/32), Sudket/Patapol (Thailand Satelitte Final), and to the pair they are going to meet tomorrow (Vietnam Satelitte Quarter-Final). I believe the confidence they got from beating Mohd Tazari/Lin will give them an advantage tomorrow. WOMEN'S DOUBLES Jo Novita/Greysia Polii vs Rani Mundiasti/Endang Nur Sugianti -- an unexpected all-Indonesian final...for the first time since I don't know when. Richard Mainaky has once again proved he's a good coach. He was the one who was responsible for the partnership that subsequently leads to a World and Asian Championships in Mixed Doubles. This time, he is also in charge of WD and has boldly experimented with new pairings starting from this week. Rani/Endang and Rizal/Greysia have done well to reach the final and semi-final respectively. It was a pleasant surprise that Rani/Endang manage to beat the top seeded Wong/Chin. Can they do another surprise by beating their supposedly more experienced team-mate tomorrow? We shall see more of Richard's new XD pairs next week in the IO. MIXED DOUBLES Kennevic Asuncion/Kennie Asuncion vs Sudket Prapakamol/Saralee Thoungthongkam (MATCH OF THE DAY) -- make no mistake...it's a home pair in the final! The Asuncion siblings have done well in their home grand prix...and it should be another thriller tomorrow. On paper, Sudket/Saralee are more experienced and should win. However, we have seen plenty of upsets this week...and it could be another one of those tomorrow.
