    Philippine Badminton Association (PBA) will be organising its first IBF Grand Prix event, the Philippine Open 2006 from 1st to 5th March. The event will be held at the Philippine Sports Multi-Purpose Arena (ULTRA).

    The PBA has offered a total amount of US$ 120,000 prize money in this 5-star grand prix event. The event will be played in full 5 events (men's & women's singles & doubles, and mixed doubles). It will be the first IBF grand prix event to run on the new rally point scoring system.

    Mr. Yap Tee Loy from Malaysia will officiate the event as chief referee & will be assisted by a local referee, Professor Benjamin Domingo.

    The closing date for entries is 20th February 2006.

    Deadline of Entries: All entries must be made on the enclosed Entry Form and sent via mail, fax or email to the address below not later than 20th February 2006. Entries must be sent by the National Member Association in order of strength in each event.

    Scoring: New Scoring Rally Points System will be played in this competition.

    Eligibility Participation is open to all IBF member associations. All entries should be sent through their national badminton associations.

    Seeding: Will be conducted by IBF based on IBF Ranking list dated 16th February 2006.

    Draw: The Draw will be conducted by IBF on 24th February 2006.

    Deputy Referee: Prof. Ben Domingo (PHI)

    Withdrawal Will be handled under the provision for the World Grand Prix Regulation- PENALTY for WITHDRAWAL.

    Clothing & Advertisement:

    Should comply to Competition Regulations 19 to 23, page 115-120 in the IBF 2005-2006 Statutes. Please note Competition Regulation 22.3.4: “ In World Grand Prix events, the name of the player on the back of the shirt is Mandatory”.

    Doping Control: Dope Testing will be conducted.

    Transportation: Will be provided for arrival and departure from the airport to the official hotel provided the Organizer is informed of the flight details way in advance. Shuttle bus will be available between the official hotel and competition hall (or practice hall).


    Practice Sessions: The Organizing Committee will arrange practice schedule according to the size and arrival time of each team. Practice sessions can be arranged upon request through the Tournament Secretariat and is subject to court availability.

    Visa Application: Players and officials who require special invitation letters for visa applications must submit full names, passport number, date of issued & expiry, date & place of birth, by 1st February 2006 to the organizers.

    Team Managers’ Meeting:

    Each team shall appoint a team manager who shall be responsible for all communications to the entries submitted under their National Association. The Team Manager’s Meeting will be on the 28th of February 2006 (Time and Venue will be announced later)

    Umpire’s Briefing: The Umpire’s Briefing will be in the 28th of February 2006. (Time and Venue will be announced later)
