very interesting, Canada's TC squad just lost to the eventual group winner, Peru, in their last round robin group tie, 3-2. Good chance for Canada to meet USA in the Semifinals, should USA win their last group tie (vs. Guatemala).

USA lost 1-4 to Guatemala, so semifinal of Thomas Cup line-up :
    1) Guatemala vs Canada
    2) USA vs Peru

Will USA meet Canada in final match?

How come Tony Gunawan and Howard Bach are not playing? Look at the scores against Guatemala, I don't see them having any chance going to Thailand.

    ^^The reason is..^^

..they want to give the younger players a chance to play.
Even if they competed and win the PanAm regional and go to M'sia, what are the chances for them, as a group, to go far?
So, might as well give the younger players the chance to play and prove themselves (win or lose).

Btw, the Final Rd. lineups are set:
UC : Peru vs. USA (also a rematch from their group play, which USA won 4-1)
TC : Peru vs. Canada (a rematch from their group play, which Peru won 3-2)

    Good luck all!

Look like these so-called young players still have a long way to go to fill their shoes. :(

    ^^Yes, not really a surprise..^^

..personally, the current USA TC squad wasn't expected, at least favored, to win the PanAm qualification this time around. As a matter of fact, imo, Canada's squads (TC & UC) were the favorites going in to win the PanAm region. But Peru showed they're for real, despite their Uber Cup squad falling short.
The U.S.' Uber Cup squad, imo, had an equal chance with Canada to win the PanAm region.
But, imo, it's a good learning experience for the U.S. youngsters this time around. Perhaps this exposure and experience will bode well for them in 2 yrs time for another shot.

As for the Peru squads, i was chatting with a baddy friend y'day, who is from Latin America and knows a bit abt badminton in Latin America. He told me, as of now, the best organized badminton national association in Latin America is from Peru. It used to be Mexico, but no longer. Guatemala's national baddy scene is not really good, despite their performance in this yr's qualification. As last yr, for example, Kevin Cordon's coach (who is also a club mate, with my baddy friend, in Guatemala) called my friend and complained the Guatemalan national association messed up in registering Kevin Cordon for last yr's U.S. Open.
