USAB has not adopted the new IBF scoring system yet for domestic tournaments. So the old scoring system will still be used (3 x 15, 3x11). You know what i mean. Again it is just sad to see the low turnout of players. I mean where are you all hard core badminton fanatics ?
It is totally a different league still, bro. It can not be forced !!! Let the "force" comes naturally. When it arrives, then of course we will let them play and gain the an invaluable experience to play in an open circuit ...

During the last two days of 06 US Adult National, i am so glad to see so many junior players stepping up to participate in it. I mean they know that they might not have the chance to win but the courage to take part in it is worth mentioning and earn an applaud for them. Despite that, i have seen huge improvement from these juniors namely Rena Wang, Joanne Chen, Vimla Phongasavithas, Cheryl Chow, Priscilla Lun, Thuy Hoang, Laurent Todt, Daphne Ng for the girls and Yau Hwa Chan, Emmanuel Pun, Bartolo Chan, Randy Hsia, the Lin Bros (Marvin & Calvin), Chris Lun, Azam Ali, Sasha Boyarin, and of course, Arnold Setiadi, Andrew Todt, Ronald Sou plus others like the Shu Bros, Stephen WOng etc. Keep up the good work ..... I saw most of those junior players also myself...They do showed courage and tremendous improvements from the last time i saw them compete, despite their end result.. I know some of the players mentioned are from Northern California, and they are not part of the OCBC training center... But personally, not too sound i'm undermining the training up north in NorCal, but i strongly believe some of them have the talent and skill in-par or close to par with the OCBC-trained juniors(esp. Bartolo Chen and Arnold Setiadi for Men's and Daphne Ng and Lauren Todt for Women's field)..But IMO getting trained here @ OCBC will really polish their game even more...Just to name two junior player i saw with a big improvement was Jack Shu(the big, tall MD junior player who really showed some power smashing) and Kuei-Ya Chan(WS).... If they do decide to move down here and train @ OCBC, which i hope those juniors will, boy i can see and picture the US National team really continue the success without any degradation...And i can't wait to see them improve even more and win future US Nationals/IBF tournaments.. Of course, if they are also able to be sent to outside international tournaments, have it Satellite or 1 or 2 stars tournaments, who knows what the limits.. After all, they are and will be the future of US Badminton, within 2-3 yrs...

Bartolo has been training in OCBC since 2005. He moved here from SF since he started college here at the UCI along with his brother Benedict Chen. He used to train with Arnold Setiadi under coach Kevin Zheng.
i was there for the tournament. even tho i've been playing for a few years, it's my first time to attend a tournament. it was amazing to see how good these players are! loved the rai/bach game and of course the men's doubles. anyone know why apolo anton ohno was there? i'm guessing he's friends with some of the players. also, what is pot play? thanks for the info.
SGVBC has an informal "Pot" on Monday and Thursdays. Entry fee, $5 or $10 per person depending on the number of people that sign up. It's single elimination, minimum 4 teams, max 16 teams, winners take all. Pairing is dependent on who's playing and how many. Recently there hasn't been too many true Pots. Just one match side bets.
Too bad Tony Gunawan nor Halim Haryanto (nor other badminton fanatics in the U.S.) didn't sign up and participate to play..but the players who participated were very good themselves.. Did you watch last year's World Championship here in our own backyard @ the Anaheim Pond??..If not, you really missed a wonderful treat.. On that note, no worries, wait til you see and attend the upcoming US Open, which hopefully should come this August or September..Now, that's a real IBF grade tournament with other international players participating(albeit a 1* tourney).. heh??..Apollo Ohno came to OCBC??..which day, cos i didn't see him..
Did you know that USA Badminton will adapt into the new scoring system right after TC/UC in Japan due to the fact that most countries (90%) are accepting it now. So guys no more 3x 15 or 3x 11 games anymore .......
