Observing Lee Chong Wei at the Malaysian Open SS 2010

    Our regular BCer, ctjcad, asked:
"Are we all going to follow Lee Chong Wei to the Malaysia Open SS 2010?"

    And so, we shall. :):):)

Is ENG's No.1, Rajiv Ouseph, a threat for LCW?

    .
Someone asked: Is ENG's No.1, Rajiv Ouseph, a threat for LCW?

Answer: Remember that Rajiv Ouseph almost defeated Peter Gade at the 2010 Korean Open (in Round 2) last Thursday, 14-Jan-2010.

    In that Rajiv-vs-Peter match;
In Game 1, Rajiv was leading 21-20. Peter came back to win with 23-21.
In Game 2, Rajiv was leading 19-14. Peter came back to win with 22-20.

Rajiv has improved much. He is a threat for any player now, that's for sure. ;););)

Rajiv Ouseph will be a potential banana-skin for Lee Chong Wei. Let's see if Datuk Lee can deliver a back-to-back title for the first-time

If the Korea Open is a good guide, it appears DLCW is in great form. I did not watch him in action but judging from the scores, none of his contenders got close to him, not even Chen Jin, who seemed to score better in his smashes. But it seemed that the Datuk applied a reverse strategy of not doing an all-out attack, rather to score points more at the net.

All other opponents were at DLCW's mercy, for they seemed to have no answers to his powerful smashes, not even the very experienced PG and Boonsak. I hope the Datuk did not overspend his energies and become a victim of fatigue in the MO, which he is strongly expected to win at his own kampong. Surely his Korea Open victims will want to take revenge if they should meet again, but the Datuk's most feared opponent in the lion's den, the fresh and dominant Lin Dan, will be ready to pounce a surprise. Hopefully LD will not be disappointed! ;)

Datuk did not raise a sweat in the KO. He must have felt like he was in his usual training sessions (all over in 2 sets for all his matches). It is like the beer drinker sculling non alcoholic beer.

PG was pretty subdued in the Finals. Hope the MO would be more lively for him or ,e. else I would fall asleep again. :)

Aiyoh, like dat where got fun? :(

Luckily I have changed my plans and not be at the MO this time.
But I'll still be in KL at month-end.

However, complacency will be DLCW's greatest downfall if he is not careful and has lost interest in his opponents. The prize money may perk him up a little, hopefully. :p

2010 Malaysian Open SS: Lee Chong Wei said "My goal remains the same"

    .
So said Lee Chong Wei from Seoul yesterday (Sunday 17-Jan-2010) that the withdrawal of Lin Dan from the Malaysian Open did not come as a surprise to him.

“Word was abuzz here that he will not make the trip to Bukit Jalil. I don’t know why he’s pulling out but it does not surprise me,” said Chong Wei.

Whether he is in or out, my goal remains the same – to go all out and try to win the home title again.”

Well, let's await official news releases from the CHN camp and/or the news media from China.

If the news that Lin Dan is not coming is true, many people who have bought tickets to watch Lin Dan would be disappointed. :(:(:(

Hmmm... I think we all want to see a LCW vs LD at the MO right about now. Hope he's still in :(.

Don't worry. Those fans bought the ticks surely got other reason on.

Its not just solely and mainly of Lin Dan:cool:

This could turn out to be quite unsightly..

man, i just quickly browsed the bottom half of the MS draw (no Simon, no Sony, no Lin Dan) and i can foresee a very unattractive MS Final.....can you imagine Hafiz Hashim representing the bottom half of the draw in the Final???..:(
I doubt Gade will make the MS Final, though...

You know, if HH actually makes it to the final, it will be very interesting to watch his progress, at least for me :D However, I can expect him to go crashing down to a random player.

For LCW's journey : He managed to win his Korean Open Title pretty easily. However, people will just say he can win all the small ones but no big titles, which is true :( However, I still look to it as a positive step. If he is at his peak form this year, this is the year to get things right. :) So, I hope he manages to defend his Malaysia Open title, even if Lin Dan is there or not.(Preferably there, though.) If LD is not there, he still has some potential banana skins ;)

A fan of all exciting and tough matches

    .
I am a fan of all exciting and tough matches, not only individual players. ;););)

Like the previous thread: LCW tried many times to win the Korean title, but failed.
So, psychologically, I thought it would be very tough for LCW to win it.

Seems like he's a great player, but have problem with closing or ending the match like Malaysia's mens doubles pair, LWW/CTF.

Rajiv is a defensive player playing angles with a style somewhat similar to LCW

but then I see no reason why would LCW lose at its own game being faster and fitter

    Rajiv is taller tho ^^
