Taufik falls to Bao in baby-face showdown

In a showdown between two baby-faced players, Bao Chunlai of China proved to be more mature in his game as he disposed of Indonesian Taufik Hidayat in two straight sets in the third round of the ongoing 13th world badminton championships.

Taufik, 22, who captured the men's singles title at Busan Asian Games last year, lost to Bao 9-15 and 4-15 in just 37 minutes and was stopped outside the quarterfinals.

Bao, 20, played an all-court game and utilized his height advantage to reel off a string of steep-angled shots, leaving Taufik at his wits' end.

Taufik told reporters that he would have no fear of the other Chinese players including top seed Chen Hong and fifth-seed Xia Xuanze.

"Only Bao I don't like to play, " said Taufik. "He played slow and safe game, I was not used to that."

Bao said that he had been aware of what Taufik didnot like. "I knew that he disliked the steep-angled shots," Bao said.

Bao was beaten by Taufik in March's Sudirman Cup, but the loss took place when he blew away a big lead in the second set before losing to Taufik 2-1 in sets.

"I should have won that match," said Bao. "I wanted to make revenge."

Bao was so bent on the revenge that he didnot know whether he won or not when the final shot was played.

"I have never concentrated on a game so much as today," he said.

"My concentration was so great that I didnot think of win or loss," he said.

I remember this kind of statement from Taufik.
The statement of Taufik remember me to what happen in the year 80.
Icuk Sugiarto (one of the best defence player and the best player of Indonesia at that time) had a same problem when he played Yang Yang.
They met more than 8 times, and YY never losted to Icuk.
A special training for Icuk that leaded by Tang XinFu didn't help hem.
There was some kind of psychologic effect when he faced YY. He had already 'downed' before the macth.

Lucky for Taufik that he could beat Bao in March's Sudirman Cup.
