JAKARTA: Youngster Sony Dwi Kuncoro retained the JVC Asian Badminton Championships (ABC) men's singles crown at the Senayan Indoor Stadium here yesterday. In a repeat match of last year's final in Bangkok, the 19-year-old Sony defeated Indonesian Open champion and compatriot Taufik Hidayat 15-5, 7-15, 15-8 win. It was Sony's fourth consecutive win over Taufik. Indonesia also captured the mixed doubles title through Nova Widianto-Vita Marissa. They defeated South Koreans Kim Yong-hyun-Lee Hyo-jung 15-2, 15-11. Surprise finalist Silvi Antarini failed to add a long-awaited women's singles title for Indonesia. The 19-year-old Silvi was beaten 6-11, 5-11 by Hong Kong's Wang Chen. RESULTS Men's singles: Sony Dwi Kuncoro (Ina) bt Taufik Hidayat (Ina) 15-5, 7-15, 15-8.
