I did read in a few threads it's USD$200 or USD$250 per participant. That's a lot after conversion.- Of course there is. But i doubt CBA will be affected much. I mean, the penalty is less than $500/person.

Hello, its Datuk not Dato
It's different technically. Dato' by Sultan, Datuk by Gabenor (Yang Dipertua Negeri). Also got another Datuk or Datok, by the King, that one is higher, in terms of the position (the PJK, PJM thingy).
$250 is the amt, just didn't bother to give the exact amt cos it's less than $500 anyway.I did read in a few threads it's USD$200 or USD$250 per participant. That's a lot after conversion.

A lot? Well, it depends to which country/national body. For CBA, i think they should be fine (esp. w/LinDan making well over $1 mil)..![]()
please re-read my post #85 again. thanks.You meant :
fine = ok
or
fined = penalised ?
Last minute withdrawals is most unfair to overseas spectators who spend good money, flew some many miles hoping to watch good matches but end up disappointed just because some big headed players whimsically refuse to play.
They may be good players but they do not help promote the game. The very game that gives them a lot of money.![]()

.When badminton players are still governed by their respective national associations, this will continue to happen. The priorities are WC, Olympics, Thomas/Uber Cup, maybe All-England and Sudirman Cup. The other tournaments are practice tournaments, more like a full-dress rehearsal.
When (If) players start having independence, then we may see a reversal. Players start going for the money in SS and SS Final, and giving excuses to miss Olympics and Thomas/Uber Cup. Just look at tennis.
Which do we want?

.Penalised those (players or national bodies) who withdrew without a valid reason after they have submitted their names. And it may not be in monetary terms which I think will not be effective. It could be in the form of docking of ranking points or banning the player for next 1 or 2 tournaments.
