The Badminton World Federation (BWF) can confirm Suzhou, China has been awarded the hosting rights of the TotalEnergies BWF Sudirman Cup Finals 2023.

Suzhou was due to host the championships in 2021, but with BWF unable to stage any tournaments in China this year, the event was switched to Vantaa in Finland.

Suzhou will now stage the 2023 edition of the BWF World Mixed Team Championships, with original 2023 hosts India accepting the opportunity to host the BWF World Championships in 2026.

    - A big doubt for those three top-tier tours in Bali judging current pandemic is out of control in INA.

Looks like the next tourney will be the Sudirman Cup Finals in Finland. I am pretty sure Jordan/Melati, Hendra/Ahsan, the Minions, and Greys/Apri will still be representing Team INA.

It boils down to mental attitude if Team INA is to win its first major mixed-team title in three decades (last won in 1989!). The closest we got was to the Final where we lacked the depth back then and were comprehensively beaten either 3-0 or 3-1.

Team CHN, TPE and JPN will be the ones that will stretch INA, especially given latest development.
CHN holds the advantage in XD, WS and perhaps MS. INA has the edge in MD and 50-50 as always in WD if CHN fields Chen/Jia to face Greys/Apri again.
TPE holds the advantage in WS and MD. INA will take 2 points in WD and XD surely, whereas MS is 50-50.
JPN holds the advantage in WS, XD, and perhaps WD. MD and MS will be 50-50 given the performances of the various players in the Olympics. If Kento is not played, INA will take this point. If Endo/Yuta are played, very likely INA will field Hendra/Ahsan.

Right after that, it will be the Thomas and Uber Cup Finals and similarly, no chance in Uber Cup but some chance in the Thomas Cup I feel.

The grouping (if there's no re-draw) for Thomas Cup pits INA against Malaysia, Netherlands, and England. All are winnable ties.

Ths Sudirman Cup is completely open for all 4 countries right now
They have fair amount of chance to win if they bring their A game
Can't wait!! Makes me reconsidering if I want to to watch it live or not ahaha

Pray that the Delta or Delta+ variant will not wreck havoc. Cases have been rising in many countries. :(

    maybe Thailand, S.Korea, or Egypt

I kinda hope that Finland can join the tournament

I love that finally Sudirman Cup has only one division and with 16 teams. It has been long overdue

Yes, it's still ON so far according to low number of total confirmed case recently.

Another tour cancellation on the horizon, MAS Open (S750) and MAS Masters (S500) : https://www.nst.com.my/sports/badminton/2021/08/717226/bam-brace-worst-case-scenario

If one of participating nations can't take part then host Finland will fill the vacant spot directly.

yeah, that's what I was alluding to hahahaa

but it's not a good intention to wishing a contingent to drop out of a tournament, so I didn't write it down

I dont think any ranking points will change until end of the year. Starting next year, BWF probably takes away 2019 and 2020 points.

As expected, no Asian tourneys will proceed and only European tourneys will continue to be held.
Perhaps Team CHN, JPN and others may want to withdraw the the Sudirman & Thomas/Uber Cups ?
