It's now on the racket for 1 month and I used it during 6 sessions so far. It still feels lively with great repulsion, shows no fraying or denting in the sweet spot and I don't feel any need to change it as of now. I still like it a lot. Would I be willing to pay significantly more than No.1 for it? Hell no. So I hope that Li-Ning Europe will at some point come to their senses. Tension loss is in the usual range. Going by the ping frequencies, it startet at 1360 Hz right off the machine and has now settled at around 1225 Hz. So pretty much spot on 10% loss which is in line with the values I saw in previous tests.
I play with N65 about one month too (Tectonic 7, 11.5x12.7kg). First impression was very hard string (after No1), I was not able to push it through by my smash, at the end of the second session I start to fill it adequately. Now it is still has high tension but very playable. It has good control and respectable power with good sound. Perhaps N65 should live longer compare to No1.
What kind of power? Repulsion/ Smash/ Clear? No 1 with no 1 boost easy to compare. If u don't matter with tension loss no 1 boost is good choice but not so far with no 1. But if u really care about tension loss, it so clear no 1 is the best choice. No 1 boost is really bad for tension loss
Oh I see, I want to try N65, but it's quite pricey in my country. I still have Vbs 66 and exbolt 65 on 2 rackets. Still has vbs63 and nanogy 99 to try.
I fill No1 has better repulsion for clears and drives. N65 has the same or better repulsion in smashes. This discrepancy can be caused by different tension which I used (N65 11.5x12.7 and No1 10.5x11.5).
This weekend I play with No1 and N65 with the same initial tension but on the different rackets. No1 on the Honor S9 N65 on the tectonic 7 So, No1 plays soft with feather shuttlecock (fresh string). Fast and repulsive on the drives and short (wrist) hits. Today morning I play with plastic and it was not so pleasant, bad smashs and difficult clears. My play conditions can be bad due to not full recovery. I switched on the N65 (this string is after 5-6 play sessions) and it feels more easier to play and smash power starts to be reasonable/good. In general N65 better in sound. Good in smashes. No1 is better in middle strength shots repulsion, good control. Fills not so hard as N65 especially at the initial stage. I want to put N65 on my Honor S9 next time.
Another couple of sessions done, and we see the first signs of fraying: It still feels fully acceptable. Let’s see how long it will take to go from fraying to failure.
Another two sessions on the clock over the holidays and… well… Still plays and feels good, so I’d say that it’s getting closer and closer to full score on long term playability as well. Final verdict: N65 is a bloody great string that gets full points throughout the board. It will be a matter of local pricing if this will become a hit or miss for Li-Ning. I’ll have a tournament coming up next week so I’m afraid I’ll have to cut it at that stage.
How long has it been notched like this? Does it have the same 'fragile' core as LN1? In the past when I used LN1, it wasn't long before it snapped after the outer layer went. Hopefully I can find cheap sources of this in reels. I've got a long term LN1 customer who I need to have a difficult conversation with in the near future... Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
So 20 hours in 2,5 month? Means around 20 hours, right? Seems to be an average durability? So no need to upgrade from No.1?
always hard to get that on-court time precise, but I'd say somewhere in the 20 hours ballpark. I'm confiedent that it would have survived another couple of hours but just didn't want to go any risks for the tournament. And no, it's not a significant upgrade from the No.1, just another very nice string with a consistent feel until the end of the lifetime.
