Oh I see. But you're right, in the end it all comes down to personal preferences.

Yeah it does. All the advice in the world we give would mean nada if the end user doesn't like it in the end. But I didn't go for a higher ping for sound at all. I've been toying with the idea of pushing my tension higher on BG80 because they've dropped too fast for me lately within 1 month of constant use and becomes spongy. So I looked at the BG85 which is basically the same thing but slight touch thinner. No regrets on my decision though.

Oh, is that what you meant? Hm..I lean differently. I just go by feel. Once a string feels meh to me, I just cut it and restring. So on average around 10 hours of play at most and it's back on the stringing machine. But I suppose it's still directly related to tension.

If I had my own machine I would be rocking reels of BG80 and going higher. But I don't have the funds for one so I have to compensate by finding a different choice.

i strung bg85 on my arc11 half a year ago, which currently has a crack. As a result i only play with the arc11 for like warm ups or just testing my strokes with a lighter racket. If i remember correctly the feeling bg85 gave me was some hard feeling that bg80 has, but not as hard as bg80, and some sound/ thin feeling from bg66um. Not sure if its my low tension or racket or whatever, but I felt the repulsion of 85 was lower? Any bg85 users can comment out there?

I havent tried bg85 properly on my zf2 or 80etune, so im not really sure how this string performs..

from my understanding BG85 has the lowest durabilty of the yonex range, but the highest repulsion. and also a hard feeling. Most stringers will recommend stringing a couple pounds less than what you normally have as the thinner gauge makes the string bed feel tighter. At least that's what i have been told.
But since i have increased my preferred tension to 28x30 i havent used bg85. i think a good range for bg85 was between 22 to 26lbs.

Wait til you try it at 28/30 like I do. The power and precision touch is bloody fine.

oh nice you use bg85 at 28x30? i changed to ng98 with the same tension. has similar repulsion and quite a bit better durability.

although actually i have recently changed to ZM 66 FP. will give it at least the off season to test the string to see if ill continue using it for the next season. might also get the reel of zm 62 that is on offer:D

Yes I do. I rarely break strings above 0.66mm. So BG85 is a breath of fresh air for me.

Nice, I'm quite an aggressive doubles player. So I tend to break strings if I accidentally snatch at a kill or interception at the front or mid-court area. So I found the slightly extra durability of ng98 quite good. Although tbh I'm searching for better feel more than anything from my next string which is why my tensions are slowly going up. 28x30 seems like a happy tension for me though, although the ZM seem to prefer slightly higher tensions then Yonex before they start to perform.

If I were to just try out 1 ashaway string for repulsion, power and sound (durability doesn't matter). Which string would U recommend ? There are just too many strings to try and I haven't really tested all of YY's yet.

That's because you're in hot and humid Singapore whereas he's in cold and dry England. ;)

Well I break once a month in Australian winters. So that's still long even to me.

Tick off NGB98. Even at 32lbs you just got the feel like hitting with Spongebob instead of a racket.

Feel on linning #1 is excellent. Moreso than 62 and 62fire. For me. Its almost buzzy/too much.
