Just ordered a 200m reel of ZM66 Fire power from goode sports. got the 50% off deal, bargain!

Been using yonex nanogy 98 JP for probably the last 7/8 years now. So big change for me. Although the Gauge is the same.

im an aggressive doubles player. have a good smash and try to play fast and do a lot of interceptions at the net. so with thin strings like BG 66 UM i find they are not very forgiving to mis hits. NG 98 has been slightly better. and really enjoy the repulsion from them. Hopefully ZM 66 FP will give similar results at a cheaper price. NG 98 PJ version is not so cheap!

    Hi Guys,

I just got myself a reel of the ZM 66 Fire Power. Looking forward to using them. Changing from the NG 98 JP yonex strings. Both are .66 gauge however I have found the ZM 66 FP sounds a little bit lower than the Yonex. Has anybody else found that?

I strung 2 Victor JJS @ 27x29, and 28x30 respectively, and they both sounds lower pitch than a Victor MX 90 strung with BG80 @ 28x30 from over a year ago! I went on to string 2 x Z force 2 with BG 80 @ 25x27, and even THEY sounds higher pitch/tension than the ZM66 FP's. Has anybody else expereinced this? Is it just me?!

ZM66 F and FP are more like 0.68mm.

yeah, well they are quoted as being 0.66, but they definitely feel and look more like 0.68!

Made the same observation. The ZMF's feel and ping like all of them are in fact one gauge thicker than specified. Ping sound is also rather dull compared to let's say a BG80 or BG66UM. Not to mention the No.1...

is 62 a good string? whats the difference between the normal 62 and 62 fire? does it compare to any yonex strings?

62 fire is more durable than original 62. And I believe 62F is thicker than 62.
For the comparison, sorry I cant tell, never use 62F.

Yes, 62F is definitely slightly thicker and more durable. In our Canadian winters, 62 had trouble staying intact on the racket for an hour of play at 25x27 lbs.

However 62F is slightly less crispy. Took me only maybe 4 sessions to adapt to it.

But seeing that Stringer's World has it at clearance price, I may just pick up one reel of 62 for summer play only. Tks @amleto ! :)

would you guys recommend i give the 62 a go? i currently use NG 98 @ 28x30 with no real durability issues. a miss hit will snap the string but that is to be expected. tried 66 Fire Power on monday @ 28x30. no problem with power, but the crispness of NG98 just wasnt quite there.

As always, try a set or two of both 62 and 62F first before getting a reel. Coming from NBG98, you'll notice much better control from the rougher texture of 62/F.

Maybe a tad less repulsion, but the harder coating/jacket of 62/F will also mean longer playability. NBG98 nicks at the intersections very quickly due to the thin nano coating.

ZM62F is quite hard feeling at 28x30, it's quite nice. But if you don't like hard strings like BG80, then you'll probably not like the ZM62F, although it's still worth a try because control is also very good with the Zm62F. I liked it enough that I bought a reel of it.

I tried it at that tension. Wasn't even haed enough for me. If anything it's a medium feel string at worst IMO. Kinda like the VS850. It's neither here nor there in terms of how hard it is.

I found VS850 initially feels good but it goes mushy really fast so within a day it can't compare to the ZM62F on feel, although control on the VS850 was quite outstanding. I agree that the ZM62F isn't quite as hard as I unintentionally made it out to be, but I still consider it to be on the hard side. It's probably the 2nd "softest" string I use. With NBG99 being the softest. Everything else I use is hard hard HARD

If BG80 is your usual string for hardness, then forget about looking for any other string. There is no other string in the universe that can match it's hard feel...

Nah. I turned to BG85 recently to get a higher ping without increasing my tension

If you want nice hitting sound, you should consider G-Tone. The sound is so glorious.
