The MALAYSIAN GP GOLD have started with qualification round today........

Huge bunch of MAS juniors playing in QR today...........Misbun's son is one of them.....

One question......in the first Match...the MD match between Vietnam and Mas....the Mas pair was disqualified.....not retired........what actually happened to disqualified a player.....:confused:..?

Shouldn't a country like Malaysia (with such calibre in badminton) hold a super series instead a of GP gold? What is the criteria who can hold super series and who can hold GP gold?

    Oh, OK. Thanks.
But then isn't it unfair that some country get two big tournaments while some other just don't get any.
For example as far as I understand Russia does'nt hold any big tournament (although they are coming big on the screen).

Depends on whether the country can attract sponsors for the prize money or have the infrastructure in place to hold the tournament. While the BWF is trying to be as diverse as possible with their tournaments, sometimes it's just not possible.

It is just one or two player in many years. It is still a long way to go for India to produce players in bulk (like the Indonesian, Chinese and Malaysians do).
But given the seriousness of Sports Authority of India for the commonwealth games in 2010, I do have some positive feelings.
Moreover Saina is turning to be an unexpected sporting queen in country. :D

In terms of prominence in the respective sport, Saina N wins hands down.
In terms of prize money won and the overall glamour, Sania M wins hands down.
