I'm so glad that Bao can defeat Lee Hyun Ii this time. I was so disappointed watching him lose so easily to him in SG Open. Jia you, Bao!!

Hmm.. still waiting for the MD results. Want to know how Fu and Cai are doing...   Hope that they can win Malaysia Open this time.

Paaske/Ramussen didnt play well and made too many errors. The Thais capitalized on this and managed to stay cool and attacked throughout the match. They were very upset and stayed back with their coach when almost everyone has left the stadium.

certainly... i believe they will bounce back, to higher ground? maybe? the match between Hadiyanto/Alven and Gan/Abdul Latif was an exciting one. the next match will be more exciting when Hadi/Alven clash with Choong/Lee. if Hadi/Alven were to meet Koo/Chan in 3R, then they are the second ppl after peter gade to meet 3 m'sian in a row provided that peter and choong hann can go that far.

    Men's Doubles Round 2 pairings

    Analysis of matches and predictions:

Luluk Hadiyanto/Alven Yulianto vs Chong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah
A tough one to call. Comeback veterans Chong/Lee beat Flandy/Eng Hian in two tight matches, while Luluk/Alven were stretched to 3 long games by the Malaysian young pair. Head-to-head record shows that Chong/Lee enjoyed a 3-1 advantage, including the win in last year's final. So, Chong/Lee could create a further upset by beating the no 1 seed, which has not impressed so far this year.

Chan Choong Ming/Koo Kien Keat vs Hendra Gunawan/Joko Riyadi
The young Indonesian pair slowly established themselves as an upcoming pair and I am excited by their progress so far. This is the first time PBSI sent them to 2 big tournaments and they have done reasonably well. They reached the last 16 last week only lost out to Cai/Fu (which is expected). This time, they reached the last 16 again and has the chance to get to quarter-final. Head-to-head score is 1-1. Chan/Koo beat the Indonesians in the final of the Chinese Taipei Open (a 2* tournament) late last year, but, the Indonesians gained their revenge in the Indonesian Open a few weeks later. Both matches ended in 3 games. It could be another 3 long games today and I hope the Indonesians win :)

Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun vs Mohd Fairuzizuan Tazari/Lin Woon Fui
Head-to-head record is 1-1. I think Fu/Cai will prevail although Mohd/Lin created an upset when they beat the Chinese pair easily in Aviva Singapore Open 2004.

Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen vs Thomas Laybourn/Peter Steffensen
Boe/Mogensen to win and continued their fine progress.

Yeo Yeon Seung/Jeon Jun Bum vs Wong Choong Hann/Chew Choon Eng
Wong/Chew created an upset by beating the upcoming Korean pair Jung/Lee in the first round. With an experienced double player in Chew Choon Eng, they could well beat another Korean pair which is still relatively unknown!

Simon Archer/Anthony Clark vs Candra Wijaya/Sigit Budiarto
Candra/Sigit to win. A quarter-final berth in the Malaysian Open will guarantee that they will be the 2nd seed for the WC, with Jens Eriksen/Martin Lundgaard Hansen confirmed to be the top seed. Another final beckons as well since the no 2 seed in this tournament lost out suprisingly last night.

Sang Yang/Xie Zhongbo vs Markhis Kidho/Hendra Setiawan
Why is Zheng Bo not paired with Sang Yang remains a mystery to me...or have they decided to break this pair up and create a new pair in Sang/Xie?
I hope the young Indonesian pair can win to maintain their top 10 ranking and hopefully secure the 8th seeding for the WC next month. With Passke/Rasmussen removed from their side of the draw, Markis/Hendra has an excellent chance to advance to the semi-final and face their senior (Candra/Sigit).

Tan Bin Shen/Ong Soon Hock vs Sudket Prapakamol/Patapol Ngernsrisuk
Another tough call, but, based on last night's performance, I fancy the Thai pair to advance to the quarter-final.
