Read from a local newspaper, Wong Mew Choo lost to Japanese player in the qualifying round 1. I think Malaysian's nightmare will continue in this tournament.

Day 1 promises a number of interesting matches, I am waiting for hcyong to provide some analysis. The one that caught my attention is the match between Korea's Lee HI and China's Bao CL, can the latter make amends for his quarter finals loss in Singapore last week? Malaysia's Hafiz will take on Xia XZ today. It's quite frustating for not getting the online score. We shall see how will the WS semifinalist of SO, China's Jiang YJ fare against Hong Kong's Wang Chen.

    Here I am :)

    MS (R64)
Gade (3*) v Lee TS - Home-ground factor may spur Lee, but can't see Gade losing this one.
Hafiz (6*) v Xia XZ - Xia is a hardened fighter, but Hafiz may be too much for him if he finds his consistency; is his tooth still bothering him though?
Bao CL (5*) v Lee HI - The toughest opening match for a seed, Lee is close to his best and extremely fit; I will put my money on Lee.
Boonsak (10*) v Jang Young Soo - I thought Boonsak had withdrawn.
I see 13 Malaysians in the main draw. The opening round will likely see many casualties but I hope it's not going to be an absolute disaster like in Singapore.

    WS - not playing today

    MD (R32)
Boe/Mogensen (5*) v Robertson/Blair - English are plucky but these two Danes are the future of Denmark; no doubt about the result - Danes win.
Jung/Lee (6*) v Chew/Wong - Malaysians have experience on their shoulder, but IMHO, Koreans way too strong.
Chan/Koo (7*) v Andersen/Lamp - Malaysians shaky; all Danish pairs dangerous, though I don't really know this pair.
Choong/Lee v Flandi/Eng - Both experienced and solid pairs; sadly Choong/Lee may still be the best Malaysian bet.
7 Malaysian pairs but it's more a case of quantity than quality; hopefully Rexy can change this.

    WD (R32)
Lee/Lee (4*) v Novita/Nurlita - Lee Kyung Won looked exhausted in Singapore; the Koreans may again lose to Indons today.

    XD (R32)
Robertson/Emms (1*) v Xie ZB/Zhang YW - Chinese impressive in Singapore; English have work cut out for them.
    Chen/Zhao (3*) v Lundgaard/Schjoldager - Danes changed partners, but I don't doubt this is just as strong.
Koo/Wong v Clark/Kellogg - English were QFinalists in Singapore; Malaysians are motivated to do well at home.

Thanks for hcyong's detailed analysis. It's amazing to have such a number of good matches even on the first day. MS's Boonsak and MD's SangY and Zheng Bo had withdrawn from MO if I am not mistaken. From the Chinese media, Sang Yang and Zheng Bo will be replaced by a scratch pair, Zheng Bo and Xie Zhong Bo. All the Mixed Double matches should be over by now, pity us, no updates yet.
