I think Kuan Beng Hong will win againts Ng Wei , it gotta be his time this year to shine after being overshadowed by Lee chong wei most of the time. I am hoping that he would win againts Ng Wei.

Yeah the tickets are all sold out for the 1st round...LD vs TH shud be the main cause of it, as it is not often you had tickets sold-out on the opening day.

Can't deny the new drawing rule has big impact on the SuperSeries. Players may not like it but is good for this sport.

    The pick of the R32:

    MS
Lin Dan vs Taufik Hidayat (MATCH OF THE DAY) -- undoubtedly the clash of the day and I agree with hcyong that Lin Dan will take this.

Kenneth Jonassen vs Kendrick Lee Yen Hui -- a new year and a new aim for both players? Kenneth should take this.

Peter Gade vs Eric Pang -- on paper, Peter will win, but, his condition is not good...so...the improving Netherlands player has a chance.

Boonsak Ponsana vs Ronald Susilo -- a tough tie for both players...Boonsak has the slight edge.

Sony Dwi Kuncoro vs Lee Tsuen Tseng -- Sony managed to beat 3 players yesterday...does he has the stamina to go a step further into R16?

Mohd Hafiz Hashim vs Chen Hong -- a parting gift from Chen Hong before he formally retires?

Ng Wei vs Kuan Beng Hong -- close match...with Ng having the slight edge.

Bjorn Joppien vs Lee Chong Wei -- tricky, but, manageable for the defending champion.

WS -- the withdrawal of the top 2 seeds make this a more interesting field
Li Li vs Kamilla Augustyn -- since I am in SG now...hopefully, Li Li can win :p

Kaori Mori vs Julia Wong -- hmm...can Julia provide the first upset?

Maria Kristin Yulianti vs Ella Karachkova -- I hope the Indon player can build on her good European form at the end of last year to reach QF here.

Judith Meulendijks vs Saina Nehwal -- come on Saina....

Wong Mew Choo vs Pi Hongyan (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- Pi has been struggling late last year and I hope Wong can win.

Wang Lin vs Xu Huaiwen -- I like Wang Lin...hehe..she's cute...but her performance is the worst among the Chinese youngsters  Can she win today?

Yu Hirayama vs Yip Pui Yin -- after that unbelievable Asian Games achievement, "Hak Mui" should build on her success with a win.

Xing Aiying vs Lee Hyun Jin -- hmmm...a tough match for young Aiying...hopefully she can take it.

Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun vs Mathias Boe/Joachim Fischer Nielsen -- should be a breeze for the World No 1. Currently, only Kido/Hendra and the Malaysian pairs have the chance of beating them.

Tony Gunawan/Candra Wijaya vs Kristoff Hopp/Ingo Kindervater -- a good match for the veteran to stretch their legs...again, should be a comfortable win for the veteran pair and they should meet Fu/Cai in the QF.

Rian Sukmawan/Eng Hian vs Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen -- tough luck for the Djarum pair. Paaske/Rasmussen should win.

Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi vs Roman Spitko/Michael Fuchs -- its good to see that AG/Joko have some fans here...(esp yannie :D ). Can this year be their year? They should pass their first test here.

Guo Zhendong/Xie Zhongbo vs Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari/Lin Woon Fui (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- unlucky for both pairs...and they have beaten each other. Home crowds tilt the balance in favor of the Malaysians...slightly...

Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong vs Chan Chong Ming/Hoon Thien How -- ex pairs clashing against each other. The Asian Games champion should win...but...I wouldn't rule out a surprise win by Chan/Hoon.

Hwang Ji Man/Cho Gun Woo vs Luluk Hadiyanto/Alvent Yulianto -- a new combination for Korean...with Lee Yong Dae's usual partner in the junior event now starting to come up to the senior ranks. A tough match for Luluk/Alvent...

Shen Ye/He Hanbin vs Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan -- also a tough start for Kido/Hendra...but...they should progress.

Gan Teik Chai/Abdul Latif Mohd Zakry vs Sudket Prapakamol/Patapol Ngernsrisuk -- yet another interesting clash with the Malaysian pair holding the edge.

Michael Logosz/Robert Mateusiak vs Jens Eriksen/Martin Lundgaard Hansen -- the Polish pair has created some upsets before. Can they upset the second seed today?

Rani Mundiasti/Endang Nur Sugianti vs Suzanne Rayappan/Jenny Wallwork -- the Indonesian pair has a good finish last year, winning the Dutch Open. Quarter-final finishes this week and next week should be a good start for them.

Fong Chew Yen/See Phui Leng vs Lita Nurlita/Nathalia Poluakan -- shouldn't be a problem for Lita/Nathalia.

Gresya Polii/Vita Marissa vs Wong Pei Tty/Chin Ee Hui -- tough luck for the newly formed Gresya/Vita. But, if they can beat the Malaysian pair, they have a good chance of reaching semi-finals

Kumiko Ogura/Reiko Shiota vs Gail Emms/Donna Kellogg (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- should be an interesting clash...and the cute Japanese pair is on the rise again.

    XD
At this moment, Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir, Lars Paaske/Mette Schjoldager, Thomas Laybourn/Kamilla Rytter-Juhl and Koo Kien Keat/Wong Pei Tty have won their matches.

Hendri Kurniawan Saputra/Li Yujia vs Jonas Rasmussen/Lena Frier-Kristensen -- a new partner for Jonas and it will be interesting to see how they fare against the experienced Singaporean pair.

Mohd Rizal/Gresya Polii vs Anthony Clark/Donna Kellogg -- poor Gresya...another tough start for her. I hope for an upset...

Daniel Shirley/Joanna Quay Swee Ling vs Nathan Robertson/Gail Emms -- an interesting match...with the World Champion winning it...

Lee Yong Dae/Hwang Yu Mi vs Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa (MATCH OF THE ROUND) -- hmm...can Flandy/Vita beat the young Korean pair?

I will root for the Poles.

And Fu/Cai will be stopped by Tony/Chandra in QF.

Tough luck for top ranked MAS pairs, playing against each other ....

I hope this continues... watching JR/Britta Anderson play is very irritating. All of JR is brilliance is nullified by trivial mistakes by BA.

Totally agree. Danes going downhill. May not even last till OG08. Poles getting better just less known and fancied.
However KKK/TBH likely to lose. Were stretched to rubber in last MDQ match. Not a good sign.

I think it is hard to judge the players by their close games. For every match, the conditions are different --- so many factors involved, e.g. temperament (players taking it easy and not stretching themselves), the opposition putting in a fight, different style of play (and in this case, the KK/BH styles are known to the other Malaysian pair), etc.

As far as I am concerned, KK/BH, as a pair, will be feared in this tournament and they have done well so far. If they win the next match, I think opponents would be wary of them. Take note, no one wins a big tournament (in this case the Asian Games) and then wilt away so quickly. KK/BH's forte is in their youthfulness and power play combined with their attacking game strategy which was asked by Rexy. These are stilll there and will pulverise their opponents as the pair gets warmed up in the tournament.

My bet is they will win this tournament, carrying their good form forward in this Super Series. And they have every reason to because they want to go up the ranking, currently languishing in the ranking as a pair.

From the draw I see a few Russian players playing in this super series. Do they have Chinese coaches?
