Interesting and pretty decent line-up for Super 300 event with some top 10 ranks show up here where almost the elites taking short break to prepare higher tier BWF tour in next following weeks at Fuzhou and Hong Kong.

Men's singles department certainly will look forward for two comeback players after long injury layoff, Shi Yuqi and Son Wan Ho. How far will they go in this tournament? Shi had made brief appearance, 15 minutes in Changzhou last September but obviously the Chinese was far from well condition post ankle surgery. Meanwhile Son had been absent for seven months since March 2019 due to ruptured Achilles tendon. Kantaphon Wangcharoen, Lee Cheuk Yiu, Thammasin Sitthikom, Liew Daren are their possible opponent to overcome en route to final.

Defending champion Michelle Li and former Korean number one Sung Ji Hyun occupy opposite draw, the latter retired at DEN Open quarterfinal and skipped Paris meet subsequently, Sung will face the heavily promoted Chinese teenager Wang Zhiyi in opening round while the Canadian top-seed has Kim Hyo Min to advance. Korean prodigy An Se Young pulled out after bagged sensational victory, French Open title and her world ranking has soared to number 11.

A handful of notable names in doubles discipline containing Li JH/Liu YC, Lee Y/Wang CL, Liao MC/Su CH, Du Y/Li YH, Kititharakul/Prajongjai, Puavaranukroh/Taerattanachai, Tang Cm/Tse YS, Faizal/Widjaja. The rejuvenated Jordan/Oktavianti who booked impressive feat in Europe tour conceded to withdraw.

Just curious. Can recovery from injury really affect performance so much? Notice that Yamaguchi and today Sung Ji Hyun sudenly play out of par. I thought they normally only play when they have recovered from injuries.

Surprised to see Li and Liu in the draw. What would be their possible reason for participating? They normally never take part in anything less than 500.

Poorvisha Ram/Meghna jakhampudi, oh lord, what can i say about this pair from India, they are everything which you don't wanna see in women's doubles but still they play doubles.
Poorvisha Ram looks like she is having hernia, huge pot belly and she likes badminton, would you believe it?

Probably trying to get more points for WTF as well as win the title. Their results haven't been great lately. Fyi, they did took part in Australia Open this year.

Suspect it is a good location for a visit and also regarded as part of China. It fosters a sense of patriotism - all a bit political but good for badminton fans in Macau!

Ah I missed the Aus Open. So I wouldn't know. Anyway, that's true. They've been in a slump since sudirman Cup haha. They can't get past QF or Semis repeatedly except that final loss to Shetty and RankiReddy.

That's true. Normally I don't support them too much but because of their participation in this S300, I'll watch. Looking forward to Them vs Wang and Lee.

Didn't expect Zhou Meng to put up such a good fight to Kim Ga Eun, albeit in defeat.

Apparently, Shi Yuqi barely saved by the skin of his teeth in G2, 26-24, to force the decider. And then he ran away with G3, 21-11, to finish off Thomas Claerbout.

Both Shi Yuqi and Son Wan Ho need three games and drop opening game to pass first round hurdle in their returning feat. Son is back to normal in terms of his strong defense, agility, tactical play and cross court overhead smash which so effective to trouble 2015 World Junior Champion Lu Chia Hung, 18-21 / 21-10 / 21-12. Meanwhile top seed Shi is struggling a lot against WR #73 Lucas Claerbout judging by scoreline (since no live streaming for court 3), losing 16-21 then trailing behind 13-17 before he made good comeback 15-19 then nailed crucial second game, 26-24, a morale boost and growing confidence in third game, 21-11 to win his first match after experienced horrible injury at INA Open second round last July. Big challenging task for Shi tomorrow to face the explosive compatriot Ren Pengbo who smashes Firman Abdul Kholik, 21-10 / 21-6.

Early exit for second seed Sung Ji Hyun, high possibility that the Korean isn't fully recovered yet, defeated by 19 years old China new prospect Wang Zhiyi, 17-21 / 10-21. Strong contender Michelle Li, Zhang Beiwen march on to next stage without serious trouble.

How did Ren Pengbo dismantle Firman Kholik, 21-10, 21-6? Strange.

And, tomorrow, he's facing, of all persons, his compatriot, Shi Yuqi who's playing his first post-injury comeback tournament.

Some forumers are capable of judging injuries/fitness issues by score line, can’t you judge play form based on score line?

Are you implying that Sung Ji Hyun has bad form then? She beat he bing jiao in previous tournament and was on the way of beating Zhang Bei Wen until she retired.

Obviously Shi Yu Qi and Son Won Ho just returned from their injury lay off. And their opponents are supposed to be subpar which they are supposed to dispatch with relative ease.
