Two years difference is nothing at their young age, still a long way to go before normal retirement age.

Remember, Intanon Ratchanok was around this age, 16 , when she started making waves in the pro circuit. Goh Jin Wei is a remarkable child prodigy, she'll go far.

Totally unexpected, Zhao Junpeng playing a controlled rallying game a la Lee Hyun Il, patient and steady; instead it's Praneeth who is impatient and a bit frustrated.

Zhao JP didn't impress me much earlier in the tournament but today he seems a different player. About time another 20-yr-old CHN player starts to make his mark to fill the gaps left by some of the senior CHN MS players.

Players' forms can swing like a yo-yo. The last 2 rounds Sai Praneeth played with the kind of form which enabled him to beat LCW in the AE. Today he is totally a wash-out. By 11-4 of G2 he has already gifted at least 6 points to ZJP.

Well done ZJP. He played a good control game, not letting SP attack with his strong smashes.. As a result SP made too many simple errors trying to force his game onto ZJ. Ufortunately for Sai, Zhao defended well and played very tight net shots.
Ever since I saw Zhao in the Malaysian youth international two years ago, I felt he had a lot of potential.
Zhao has to cut down simple errors especially his smashes. There is no necessity to unleash a strong smash which finds the net. He needs to place the smashes.

Players are getting used to GJW's lop, drop and occasional smash game. She is not very tall and don''t have the stamina to run as much or as fast as the Japanese girls.

Zhang Nan more erratic than Li Yinhui in this match

Gosh, it's a bloody miracle that Chan/Goh takes the second game. They aren't putting good performance in the first one.

    SEMIFINAL ORDER OF PLAY (12.30pm) => http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...50AA6D-483B-4CB9-9B7A-AA841518953C&d=20161203

    *Men's Singles Semifinals :
    - Chou Tien Chen (TPE) v Huang Yuxiang (CHN)
    - Wang Tzu Wei (TPE) v Zhao Junpeng (CHN)

Top contender Chou Tien Chen who misses Dubai spot is expected to make amends here, former French Supereries champion gets Chinese challenger, Huang Yuxiang for a place in final. Chou had tough opening round against Guo Kai then relatively easy in next two rounds to eliminate Zhu Siyuan and Indonesian hopeful Mohammad Bayu Pangisthu. Huang only stretched into rubber games by Lin Yu Hsien at last eight, his best achievement so far is to 1 GP Gold title in Auckland last April and twice runner-up in Lucknow and Balikpapan, still not good enough to compete in top level tournament as he suffered early exit regularly. The other CHN-TPE semifinal affairs will pit two potential youngsters, 22 years old Wang Tzu Wei against 20 y.o. Zhao Junpeng. Recent Dutch GP winner Wang passed quite tough preliminary rounds before defeated two experienced Malaysian players in a row, Tan Chun Seang and Chong Wei Feng. Zhao was slated to meet Ng Ka Long in last sixteen but the second seed pulled out, he overcame the toughest opponent en route to last four, Praneeth with 21-19 / 21-9.

    *Women's Singles Semifinals :
    - Zhang Yiman (CHN) v Chen Yufei (CHN)
    - Cheung Ngan Yi (HKG) v Chen Xiaoxin (CHN)

China second-stringers display decent improvement here, Zhang Yiman seize the opportunity to defeat Saina Nehwal who's still far from her top form after knee surgery. Current World Junior Champion Chen Yufei checked into last four, to outclass Malaysian future star Goh Jin Wei in lopsided match. These two prospect players are expected to accompany He Bingjiao as Chinese new hopefuls after Two Wangs retirement, inconsistent Sun Yu and Li Xuerui uncertainty condition. At bottom half of draw, well-progressed Cheung Ngan Yi is the only non China player who still survive in this competition and will be tested by Chinese next generation Chen Xiaoxin.

    *Men's Doubles Semifinals :
    - Lu Kai/Zhang Nan (CHN) v Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto (INA)
    - Hardianto/Kenas Adi Haryanto (INA) v Lee Jhe Huei/Lee Yang (TPE)

All four semifinalists had hard battle in last eight stage to eliminate their opponents with rubber games, two of them involved in thrilling match, Lu/Zhang stunned top seed Chen HL/Wang CL despite trailed behind 3-10 at deciding game while second seed Lee/Lee almost bit the dust against HKG young combination, Or CC/Tang CM. Indonesia continues their supremacy in men's double category, two upcoming pairs Alfian/Ardianto who succeeded to bag TPE Masters GP and Hardianto/Haryanto will eye first ever final in Grand Prix Gold event.

    *Women's Doubles Semifinals :
    - Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan (CHN) v Chow Me Kuan/Lee Meng Yean (MAS)
    - Anggia Shitta Awanda/Ni Ketut Mahadewi Istirani (INA) v Vivian Hoo/Woon Khe Wei (MAS)

The vastly improved Chen/Jia look unstoppable to secure another final spot after Bitburger Open last month, no serious trouble at last sixteen and destroyed their opponent in last eight. Another tournament favourite Malaysian duo Vivian Hoo/Woon KW will up against Indonesia back up pair Awanda/Istirani, a negative head to head statistics for the Indonesians as they never won in three previous encounters.

    *Mixed Doubles Semifinals :
    - Zhang Nan/Li Yinhui (CHN) v Lee Chun Hei/Chau Hoi Wah (HKG)
    - Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing (MAS) v Tang Chun Man/Tse Ying Suet (HKG)

The semifinal duels will offer interesting prospect, Hong Kong pairs perform good development lately especially the new hotshots Tang/Tse who won TPE GP title, managed runner-up in Thailand GP Gold and semifinalist at homeground Superseries last week. World number ten Tan/Lai also show promising progress along this year, cruised into four finals of GP Gold level with 1 title in Bangkok. At the upper half of draw, the Olympic Champion Zhang Nan with his new and younger partner Li Yinhui stunned Rio silver medalist Chan PS/Goh LY in three games and tough rival will await them today, former world number six pair Lee/Chau.

    LIVE TV COVERAGE (12.30pm) :

    1) Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing (MAS) v Tang Chun Man/Tse Ying Suet (MAS)
    2) Cheung Ngan Yi (HKG) v Chen Xiaoxin (CHN)

Tan/Lai, the World No.10 once again shows how inconsistent they are. 8-3 leads in the 2nd game gone in a minutes or so. I suggest them to go back and practise their formation again.

Cheung a bit uptight, perhaps too eager to win. Chen Xiaoxin is a clever player, a thinking player for someone her age.

A flick that could've caught CXX if it didn't go wide.

Not the kind of score I expect from Cheung to even lose in G1, 11-21
