Not a surprise if he lost. The Chinese National Team Head coach, Li Yongbo already said their target for this year is Thomas/Uber Cup, World Championship and Asian Championship only. On top of that, Lin Dan's coach, Tang Xianhu, were on leave for a year since the beginning of this year. Tang had said to the media Lin Dan's main assignment now is to defend his Olympic crown on 2012. Apparently, his coach does not care about those SS titles this year. I am guessing the old Lin Dan will be back in 2011???

Not exactly... Peter Gade did play well but Lin Dan made a lot of mistakes which was the main reason I think.

..i do feel LinDan is probably pacing himself or trying to, since end of last yr..But, boy, if it's really true he's only targeting those 3 big tourneys, probably just 2 of them, the TC and AG, then LCW has a good chance to win the WC this yr (whether against LD in the Final Rd or not, that we won't know)..

In the event that Asians still dominate badminton and I don't expect that to change anytime soon, badminton right now desperately needs a poster boy with a personality on court to market the sport for a long time.

Even if LCW wins the majors for the next 3 years, the sport will go nowhere as a whole. Good for Malaysia, bad for the sport.

Technically, all tournaments matter. You're competing in it, so you must believe you have a chance to win it. But he either didn't try because he knew he was gunna lose, or did try and isn't better that Gade today.

And the act of finding excuses for non performance continues...

Yet to be seen and proven..

..excuses or not excuses from them, we shall see in the TC, AG and perhaps WC..Should LD (or any of his MS compatriots fail to take the title/Cup in those tourneys), then yes, we can 110% call them as excuses..

Regardless, doesn't mean it automatically grant any professional player to not perform at any other SS besides TC, WC and AC.

I am pretty sure LD didn't participate in AE and SO 2010 with a mindset that "Bla I can just don't perform since my coach said it is not our target this year" as a professional player.

Will find out if Lin Dan can live up Li's expectation in Thomas Cup this coming May whether this is some kinda tricks Li is trying to pull or Lin Dan is "going downhill".

Agreed with you 100% here but this is the Chinese Team we are talking here. They can care less what other thinks. This is Li's style!!!

What 8 consecutive points conceded from LD! That was a 1st i guess from him. I think something very wrong is happening to him.
Lack training = lack of focus, match-fitness and consistency.

the way PG played tonight he got no chance against last week's Tago, let alone LCW. same as LD, the way he played tonight he would lost to Tago and LCW in 2 games.

LYB also said that he (ie the CHN team) will not bother about the ranking points until the 12 months prior to the 2012OG.

motivation. LD said that he didn't motivated enough for the AE, even to win the 5th could be everyone's dream. how can he be motivated for this SO. the question really is if he wasn't care about to win more titles, why bother to come?
