The way he's playing, he'll be lucky to get an Apacs sponsorship deal.

LD's first "real" opponent in 2014, aside from his teammates THW and WZM.

This is not the real Lin dan , his form is still not back .. The real Lin dan will be back in top gear championship like Olypimics, All England , Asia championship and world championship. Too bad his ranking point still not allow him qualify for world championship this year!

It's only news if LD loses a major like WC or Oly, other than that I don't think LD really cares about these tournaments. I am just disappointed because we won't get to see LD and LCW final!

Jan played a very good game and LCW should look to how Jan hunted the net.

Nonsense, no-one likes losing especially when you're trying to prove you can still do it. Age isn't on his side now.

If his new style is not to attack at every good opportunity and play more a patient rally style, then he can expect to increasingly get beat by opponents that do take the initiative.

totally agree, especially professional athletes, losing means their share is dropping... its a job for them, not social activities like for most of us.

The nonsense is that LD has anything to prove anymore, he has already won everything there is to win in the sport of badminton. Would you feel safe, betting your house or your life saving against LD winning the next WC or Oly when he is in the draw?

No more nonsense than suggesting he doesn't care about the smaller tournaments to put effort into them.

agree... he already didn't care for more than half a year, by not entering any tournaments...

and if he intends to make a come back to gain ranking points for Olympic 2016, then he better damn care that he does well in each and every tournament he enters...

Biggest name in badminton or not, he's negotiating a new sponsorship deal and sponsors like a winner.

Then why he is competing again? I don't think LD is happy when he loses a match. At least his facial expression showed that. Winning/losing is normal in sport, you cannot win all the time, but doesn't mean losing has no effect. That's the nature of competition. If someone doesn't want to compete, or not interested in competing, s/he should be gone for good and retain his/her reputation. If you are a player (even for recreational purpose), answer this: Does win against an OC or WC have any mean to you?
