Why Liem Swie King is remembered in our History of Badminton? . It was thought that Liem Swie King was one of the few who brought in 'Power Play' into the Singles game in Badminton. Around his time, most Singles players were using 'Stroke Play'. Liem Swie King was quite successful applying his 'Power Play' by winning many tournaments. Therefore, he is remembered in our History of Badminton - with his famous King Smash. .
The movie will be made into DVD soon... [I heard]. And there is a Belgian player Lianne Tan in the movie... I don't think it will be distributed to Belgium, but you can use your Indonesian connections [I hope you have some] to get it in Indonesia. Liem Swie King was only 20 years old in 1976. He was on the rise, but not yet in his prime... But yes Hou did defeat King in India during the Asian Games... [not sure about the 'Asian Cup' you mentioned...] Liem Swie King actually starred as a badminton player in a film "Sakura Dalam Pelukan" many years ago [maybe 1978 or something]. But it is more of a love drama rather than a badminton movie. I would rate King as a 3* out of 5*. 1*: any Paris Hilton movie, most Indonesian movies 2*: Ayat-Ayat Cinta, Curse of the Golden Flower, Blind Dating, Garfield 3*: King, Up, Shanghai Noon, Rush Hour 4*: G.I. Joe, Ratatouille, 300, Star Trek 2009 5*: The Godfather, Gladiator, Schindler's List, Silence of the Lambs, Iron Man
In other words.. ..the movie "King" is more of a fun, popcorn type movie, isn't it??.. *Psst, you should add "The Dark Knight" in the 5* category list..
