Yes, I kept the same tension as with BG80. But looking at the pings I get with my new machine, it looks like the jobs come out about 1 lb. tighter than with the Challenger.
I think Mark will enjoy it too. Robert and I were commenting to each other about how the repulsion is just... unparalleled. And the string just doesn't go mushy or dead, the longest I had #1 strung for was 2 months, and at no point did it get the 66UM effect. If you're happy to trade off the hitting zone for the shuttle for durability, it really is an amazing product. I haven't tried it at low tensions. I only ordered 5 sets to start with and I really don't want to waste one on a low tension setup. Maybe when I order a reel.
Now, I'm interested. I normally cut BG80 after 2 weeks because the repulsion is gone. What about the No.1? Actually I got some ZM62 sets for free, but...is No.1 really a ground breaker for the high tension guys?
It is a phenomenal string, especially at high tensions. But don't expect miracles in terms of tension retention. It's a huge improvement over BG66UM, but still loses tension/repulsion after a few weeks. It's still playable then, but not as nice as freshly strung.
Been hearing a lot of good things about this string, and was looking to try out a new performance string that holds tension well and has a good color selection. Seems like the only other strings with a huge color selection are either BG65 and BG66 Ultimax, and I didn't want to go with either. I have to say though, the colors are pretty awesome....turquoise and orange look the best in my opinion.
I just noticed this string in a reel on MBS. Only $109 USD! Surprisingly, Li-Ning seems affordable now.
Whatever you do, just stay away from the black one. It seems like the coating gets separated much easier from the core compared to the yellow one. It was peeled off while tying both knots (normal Toshis) and now the tails just consist of a bunch of core fibres and look awful. I am sooo close from cutting it and replacing it with a yellow set. The yellow hasn't shown this effect at all when trying it with a Toshi.
Is yellow the way to go? I noticed that ZM62 and BG80 are in IMO better in yellow than any other colour. Same with No.1?
I've tried the white and yellow No. 1 and could not notice any difference. I just like the yellow better because it looks better with most of my rackets.
I liked it - great noise, good feel (though it's no X110.. but then, what is?) and takes mental tensions.
Another short update from me. I am still on the the first set of No. 1 on my JS10 4U and I have to say that I am so so so impressed about the longterm performance. Strung at 25/25 lbs. in the beginning I used it for 20+ hours in the meantime and it still feels perfect. Repulsion, feel, sound... everything still very good and just too good to cut it. I can't find any damages or fraying. I only struggled a little bit the first 2-3 hours because it was so damn unforgiving when hitting off-centre. But after it had settled a bit I feel like it was much more relaxed and forgiving. What should I say?! No. 1 will remain my go-to string for now and I ordered a reel from MBS to be able to offer it to clients also for a realistic price.
Yeah, that's what I experienced as well. I had to restring at least every 2 weeks with my last go-to, but with this string my number of restrings is much lower.
