Sigh....Tommy could not fulfill his seeding, falling to the second Hong Kong player yesterday Wong Wing Ki.
7SamuraiX I think you should not criticised the line judges instead we should all give them Credit. All of them are Volunteers and without them this tournament will not go ahead.
Sayaka and Riichi have won the title! Haha... I am impressed by Riichi. He has never lost a game in this tournament, he bt Hu Yun, Hsu Jen Hao, HH, and WWK all in two games! Haha..
You must be happy sis as Japan players bag 3 titles here The third title for Japan delivered by Yuriko Miki/Koharu Yonemoto.
Singapore won 2 titles Two wins out of three events in the finals, that is something encouraging for our team. Poor Gu Juan was no match for Sayaka. However if Sayaka can defeat the much higher ranked and more experienced Hong Kong's Ms Yippy (Seed#1) so convincingly in the SF, she must be in great form. But local-born Vanessa Neo must be elated to have won her first international title (I think) in the XD with new partner Danny Bawa Chrisnanta, who must have scored another first for himself by winning not only the XD but also the MD with new buddy Hendra Wijaya, who was recently separated from his long-time partnership with elder brother Hendri. Danny seems to be improving all the time and this augurs well for Singapore. For the record, the following are the results of the Singaporean teams: XD: Danny & Vanessa beat Takeshi Kamura & Koharu Yomemoto (JPN) 21-14, 21-13 (26 min) MD: Danny & Hendra Wijaya beat Huang Po Yi & Lu Chia Bin (TPE) 21-15, 21-17 (29 min) WS: Gu Juan lost to Sayaka Sato (JPN) 14-21, 17-21 (35 min)
Finals.. Japan 3 Singapore 2 XD Singapore were on the offensive for the whole time, aiming at Koharu to gain their points:crying: Also, Takeshi was forced around the court, leaving barely a chance for him to attack Seeing his coverage is impressive, i think he should be put into MS WS Sato Sayaka takes the NZ open crown for the third time in the row!! She managed to force Gu juan into making many forced errors with long rallies MS Heres Japan again! Riichi managed to beat the odds to take Wong in straight games! HE could be japan's next rising star besides Kenichi Tago WD In the first game, japan couldnt find the pace and made several unforced errors From 2nd game onwards dey got the rythm n started playing between long endurance rallies and fast aggresive MD style attacks MD Singapore atacked like there was no tomorrow.. taipei made quite a lot of unforced errors at the net Mel, being a line judge before myself, i do know the pressures of being one and i appreciate that without them, the tournament wont get nowhere, But as LCW said, reason we want video cams on lines is that quality of line judging matters to the players
MS: JPN WS: JPN MD: SIN WD: JPN XD: SIN Total: JPN 3, SIN 2 By continent: ALL ASIAN Congratulations to Riichi Takeshita, Sayaka Sato, Danny Bawa Chrisnanta/Hendra Wijaya, Yuriko Miki/Koharu Yonemoto, and Danny Bawa Chrisnanta/Vanessa Neo Yu Yan!
I think the japanese contingent did exceptionally well here. To me they seemed more consistent than most of the other squads throughout the tournament. Overall a good show; look forward to seeing more next year
Wow, that's indeed an overwhelming collection. Thanks for taking and putting up all the photos on the net . More photos of her I now have .
I think Gu Juan has performed really well, considering that she is in both the WS and WD, and that they're playing multiple matches per day for each category. And especially so for her win over ZL, who beat TTY, who in turn beat MKY. Both Danny and Vanessa are good players.
Yes, really cute, especially the beaks. One of them resembles a unicorn's horn, while the other one looks like an uncut carrot. And I can't identify the yellower ones. Are supposed to be female kiwis ?
Danny Bawa Chrisnanta used to play for PB Djarum (correct me if I am wrong) before he moved to Singapore.
Yes I was quite surprised when Juan beat the mercurial ZL (that was the last time I saw her in Singapore). Mind you, ZL is no pushover when she even beat the young and talented Taiwanese, TTY. But Juan's teammate, Fu Mingtian, whom I expected more from, has had a miserable outing!
I've got no idea. Perhaps Rudy can provide details. But Danny has certainly improved and deserved to be sent for overseas tournaments.
Looks like even this low-ranking tournament can provide stiff competition to the ex-AE champion! MS must be totally disheartened. Hopefully he can still salvage some pride in LCW.
