It has been discussed to death. Do a search. BTW, it was clearly out from the TV, even the umpire admitted later.
That's the TV angle. According to BOTH the line judge (who has the best line of sight) and service judge, it's in.The umpire, I believe , called it in after confirmation from the sj.
The service judge should have a good view of the smash. But an important question: is the service judge Korean? Also, I believe you obtain this information from the "umpire interview", as I have indicated, there is blatant inconsistency with what has really happened in the interview. So it may be better to not believe it yet. Personally, I think the smash is 99% out.
The video showed umpire making eye contact and mouthing sth to someone (not in video) directly facing him; can only conclude he was communicating with the sj.I believe the sj's not KOR but maybe someone can confirm. If 1% of the cork clipped the line , would it be considered 'in'?
Who made all the three bad line calls which umpire had to correct, even the linesmen had the best view? If you want to believe the shot was in, the majority of BCers would be wrong then.
He 's not the rogue linesman. The sj concurred with the linesman. Most important fact to check is whether the sj is KOR. These are the two officials closest and best placed to make the line call. What makes you think the majority is always right? Have you heard of 'herd instinct'? People who follow herd instinct stands a higher chance of losing on the stock market.
From the video.. ..and from what i can judge with my slowly but surely deteriorating eyesight, the shot landed 99.9999% IN............................................................between the Singles Sideline and the Doubles Sideline
Yea... I watched it live, then watched it again n again n again n again in youtube... I am very very sure 10000000% sure that it is OUT!!! I'll guarantee that with my head!
No slow motion with close up video is very difficult to tell this one. It is not really obvious to me that was out. After all, it is no long matter it is in or out. The game was over. Just like what happen in CO07, should we argue again they were in or out?
The smash was OBVIOUSILY in, it landed inside the stadium and the badminton court itself, whether it landed inside the singles playing area is a completely different question
