No, that is what they call Manglish, aka Malaysian English or Mangled English. Singlish is spoken in Singapore. He did make many grammatical errors but he is certainly comprehensible. He did not mix and match languages and was careful in pronouncing words. He also did not end each sentence with the infamous "LA." His English is not good because of the syntactic errors. Come to think of it, GW Bush's English is worse:D .

Well, it's not a must for a badminton player to speak perfect English right? Long as he can express himself in his own words (better than getting a translator.. they tend give a different meaning to it or shorten it).

Sometimes I think that it's easy to coach the Malaysians as they understand English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Malay and English. So, it's better when the coaches from different countries are training them... at least no communication problem. Imagine having to depend on a translator all the time during training??

I wonder if Tan Kim Her knows Korean now since he's coaching the Koreans. If not, it might be difficult huh?

Yes, it's pointless to discuss LCW's English. He is a badminton player, not taking an English student.

hey guys, LCW is a Malaysian, not an american or english, if he speaks the way english do, that means he's faking it because no malaysian can resist speaking manglish... At least he has the courage to speak it

The 21-point system is too fast... Fans can see as much exciting plays from the players. If you notice in the MD SF with (FHF/CY vs Eriksen/Hansen), Eriksen/Hansen always tries to rush to the points with smashes (FHF/CY had other ways to defend it).

*And yes LCW's english isn't too good.... But he's still #1 i my LIST! :D

    Canadian commentators everywhere!

That's funny Charmaine Reid also from Canada's national team was doing commentating. Maybe because Canadian English is the most neutral :) or becuase our players get knocked out early :crying:

Canadian English is 2nd or 3rd most neutral. The most neutral English is Hollywood English...Hollywood, CA. :p

Is English one of the official languages in MAL or INA? If yes, why do most of their players speak only limited English?

Bahasa Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia are the only official languages of Malaysia and Indonesia, respectively. Also Islam is the official religion in Malaysia but not in Indonesia. I used to have some Chinese families in Indonesia and Malaysia who could only speak Bahasa Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia to their family members although they were all Chinese. In Malaysia they used to be called Babas, descendants of the great Chinese Ming Admiral Ching Ho's entourage, who took his mighty fleet to SE Asia, India, Middle East and Africa many moons ago.
