The women’s doubles and mixed doubles events at the Korea Open Badminton Championships 2022 have been redrawn.
A number of withdrawals in both events left each draw severely imbalanced, with BWF and the tournament referee agreeing to conduct redraws.
Member Associations withdrew their players and pairs citing COVID-19, travel, and injury-related reasons. Both events did not have reserves to be promoted.
________
- WD redraw using small draw size, only comprises of nine pairs, the unprecedented circumstance in S500++ of BWF World tour
- On kick-off day, top-seed Anthony Gintining crashed out prematurely, unstoppable errors frustrated him throughout the match, he can lose to any player if his grotesque form still intact, worrying sign towards Thomas Cup next month.
- The lesser known Chinese player for most badminton fans, Weng Hongyang smashes all the way to power past home favourite Heo Kwang Hee who has't found yet the formula to neutralize the quick and offensive player.
- Lakshya Sen had to dig deep due to unfamiliarity to overcome opening round hurdle, the unheralded local player Choi Ji Hoon who has good footwork and resilience.
