oh man, u r comparing apple and orange.

how about comparing the no. of Gold per capita with malaysia.

    let's put it that way,

the citizen ration between malaysia and china is about 1:48
meaning to say that each gold malaysia get, china must get 48.
let's look at the medal table. malaysia has got 4 gold while china has got only 103 which is still 89 behind in order to tie with the ratio.

furthermore, i believe malaysia has got also other strong hold such as the squash Nicol David, bowling .... sepak takraw.

Yeah, bowling gave Malaysia 3 gold medals, and not much ppl talked about this. Badminton gave Malaysia one shiny gold medal and everyone talking about it. Hmmm, being a fan, this is the time when the result are not disappointing. I watch Wong Choong Han lost in World Champ, how Tan Fook/Wan Wah lost in All England, and this time Kien Keat/Boon Heong actually won in Asian Games! I'm so happy, maybe a lil over reacting, but after 36 years of waiting..I think all the Malaysian should be happy. Congratulations for them. Its fantastic, being unseeded, beat the #1 double, won over #5 seeded pair in staright set to win gold medal. Massive congratulations for Koo Kien Keat and Boon Heong!!! and of course, Rexy Mainaki. Look like ke is the man behind the win!

I would like to quote Peter Gade on this "Wherever you go, go with all you heart". Rexy showed his players he really cared about them, so it is quite natural that KKK/TBH repay him with this glorious win.

The good news for Mas is that we have 4 pairs that are young and hungry. This is a new beginning.

Being a Malaysian, I have to join in this thread. Really proud of KKK/TBH. This time they managed to go all the way to get the gold medal. Congratulation to KKK/TBH and also Rexy (wow, he managed to produced a MAS Champion in less than 6 months...must be a record). :D

Hopefully, I don't have to wait another 30 years to see another of this thread in BC. :p

    I see your point...lol
Besides badminton, there ain't any sport that Malaysia can win at the world level. Malaysian play badminton with passion, just as ice hockey is to Canada. Malaysia used to dominate the game along with powerhouse Indonesia and Denmark, until recently when China came onto the scene and becomes the supremo. With China and Indonesia dominance, Malaysian has waited for a long time to celebrate a gold medal finish in the Asian Games. Just check how many gold medal Malaysia or even Indonesia won at this Games compared to China with >100 gold medals, and you may understand why Malaysian, myself included, are estatic over the gold medal.

Yep Tan BH and Koo KK played an awesome game. Starting from the QF, where they beat the China pair, then Markis Kido & *forgot partner's name*, then finally the 2nd Indonesian pair. It was really a quick, aggressive game. Hardly any chance for their opponents to attack.

    :) Yes I'm lousy at remembering names.:p
