https://bwfworldtour.bwfbadminton.c...open-champs-quest-for-form-that-deserted-him/ I haven’t seen a bwf interview where the interviewer tried to push back the player on his/her answers. I’m quite baffled by his lack of self introspection. Fours years now, he simply has no clue of what is going wrong with him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Let us move forward. KG, MML entered Belgian IC. I don't know why the hell PR didn't register for this. Two sets of three ICs coming up in Nov-Dec. -> Bahrain IS, Bahrain IC, Bangladesh IC, -> Irish, Scotish, Welsh IC. Let us hope our junior MS does well and improve rankings.
His brain thinks about the losses whenever he is on the verge of winning or leading. He simply could not proceed. Really unbelievable.
He always mentions (and probably that is what in his mind) "One big win can bring back that confidence" He/We can think of today's match in 2 views. -> Lost a close match, this will always happen, he can never gain his confidence back. -> But I rather feel he should consider this match as a win, coming back from 16-20 against KM is always a win, he might have lost a few bad ones in the end but I feel he shouldn't beat himself up for that too much, may be practice more on that. This is the big win he needed, he kind of got it now he should gain confidence back (atleast try). That is more positive and realistic take.
Wasted my time watching Kidambi playing Kunlavut. Now I know why thai has 2- 0 h2hrven before entering WTF. He is so patient , working his way in the rally forever point. Kidambi as usual loses the point by unforced error. He could not play patient player at all. Really unfortunate
I feel age has caught up on him. He wants to play an aggressive game, and in fact does that for a few points, but isn’t fit enough to do that consistently. Evidently he isn’t fast enough to to address the shuttle high and early in the front court, which takes away the sting in his game. All his recent decent showings were aided by the flashes of his older form to some extent, and fatigued MS field to a greater extent. Anytime the MS field returns to the pre covid form, he will be back to his pre covid form- as simple as that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree with you, he is too desperate to play a rally game and too old to play attacking game. He may get one off wins against WR5-10 here and there but he will get thrashed 100% against anyone under WR5.
This is Indian badminton. No matter how good or bad he plays, he will definitely be around for another five years. PK is still playing or should I say participating Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What tactical strengths. IMHO Saina is the only player with tactical strengths and Sindhu is good at following the tactics laid out by her coaches. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yup he wasted his time trying to be a patient player after 2017, should’ve just carried his natural game and had a better couple of years. His patience rally game wasn’t good enough and now he’s trying to attack but has no speed in the legs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
In the quest to forget KS, let us dedicate this thread to discuss about promising junior players. Welsh IC. Priyanshu lost in R1 21-19, 22-20. Pranav Rao couldn't qualify. Varun Kapr, Kiran George will play R2
This is a golden opportunity for Srikanth Kidambi to get to the finals of this WC. As of today, of all the remaining players in the upper half of the bracket of the WC, Srikanth Kidambi is the highest seeded player and based on his seeding, he is the favorite to win the upper half of the bracket in round 3 of MS: https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/draw.aspx?id=179F47D7-AA9A-4B74-A4DC-6ABC31390757&draw=1. Good luck to him, this is a opportunity of a lifetime. He probably won't get a bracket like this again at the WC.
He probably can win Lu but I am not sure if he will win. He plays a desperate game every point and makes mistake, instead of enjoying his game.
“I’m just very happy to win that match,” Kidambi said, after outplaying the young Chinese 15-21 21-18 21-17 in 69 minutes. “I think he played exceptionally well, he was very consistent throughout… I just want to do well especially in these long matches, I really want to win because it gives me a lot of confidence.” “I always had that motivation coming into any big event, but I really couldn’t do well at the World Championships as much as I’d want to. But again, this year is a new year, it’s a fresh tournament, fresh conditions, it’s about going there and doing your best. “After 2017 and half of 2018 I was playing well, but then few injuries here and there, but I was just pushing really hard. I’m just happy to find my form again. I’m on that road to a good future.” Does he sense that the winning touch is returning? “If you look at the kind of matches I’ve played in the last three months, I’m kind of playing better, I can see it. On court I can see I’m getting better. But it’s a process and I’m just in the process of getting better. I don’t want to stop here; I’d say I’m at 15-20 per cent, so I’d want to get to 100 per cent. “I’d like to put myself at 15-20 per cent because it will give me a bigger scope of improvement. I want to be more cautious and give myself a bigger target.” Note: ------- Srikanth , do you really know what you are talking about ?
No his winning touch isn’t returning. He just got lucky with all the top players mostly out or lost to others. When was the last time he beat a top player. Does he not realise how wide open the draw is and how good his chances are?!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
