Today's World Champ Final 2021 has updated the medal table below.

Loh Kean Yew's historic win has technically placed Singapore ahead of Malaysia whilst Japan's men doubles under Tan Kim Her has won their first doubles world title and Thai mixed doubles have also won their first title too.

To the BAM management, Sports minister as well as the Malaysian national badminton players, you all should be ashamed of yourself and bury your head in the sand. The table above is more than enough to be considered an embarrassing results by Malaysia.

Do they need to wait until a first badminton player from Africa/Arab/South America to win their first title in order for a BIG WAKE UP call?

At this rate, I am too embarassed to reveal I am Malaysian whenever I play badminton in international social events.

From my Malaysian friend perspective. Frogs and Chopstick issues country. Sad.

More sportsmen women will chabut to spore.

Singapore already olympic gold , already badminton world champion while Msia sacking players then asking players to come back , tweaking with coaches , bloated association , and dismal results !

    Malusia
    Malas- sia
    Mahaisia
    Marah- sia

    LKY won world champen
LZJ won a 50 cent coin blister
    Msia boleh !!!!

Scientist , drs , professors , engineers , researches , and many others sudah lari

Even extreme-power.org owner raising Singapore badminton standard.

What hurts most was when LKY pointed finger at his chest the flag which was not from my country !

The BAM management may be playing a role in these failures, but at the end of the day it is the players themselves to blame for failing to step up and think about the bigger goal and making a historical success.

What is the excuse for Marin when Spain's coaching standard is so bad that they hardly produce any good players? Same for Thailand, Vietnam and EVEN SINGAPORE allegedly ?

The biggest share of the blame pie lies with the players themselves. I suspect Malaysians as society has a big issue in terms of mindset and character development. They do not have what it takes to achieve big things in sports. Maybe it's time to stop looking at/blaming the coaches for the failures but actually hire some professional help to analyse and improve the character/teamwork development of the players' personalities ? I think Malaysia needs that kind of help URGENTLY.

The entire BAM management and their strategy to win something are big joke. I think even when Vietnam/Cambodia/Phillipines/Laos or African player finally win a World Championship, they will still say it's a wake up call.

    https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/c...after-singaporean-wins-badminton-world-title/

He said Malaysia was unlucky as an opportunity to win the World Championships was lost when national No 1 Lee Zii Jia retired in the quarterfinals because of a blister on his right foot.

It’s like once in many years this opportunity comes, unfortunately, we didn’t take advantage. It also shows that we are not there yet and still relying on a few players, the task is to expand the chances by having more world-class players,” he told reporters.

So your entire gameplan was to put all hopes onto one overhyped player with consistency issues and pray he wins after many withdrawals in that event.

    Good plan, not!

This you have to blame BWF and its system of player registration for tournaments being held by the country's association rather than the players themselves.

Highly unlikely since the biggest differences between national team and independent players is cash flow. BAM can send players to various tournaments world wide to gain exposure and earn points while independent have to be selective since each tournaments requires them to fork out their own money to participate.

The problem now is not only BAM has management competency issues but the players themselves are not good too.
All departments are unreliable and with luck and a very good weather could produce a good title winning performance.

Men's Singles : Will LZJ change the way he trains and start analysing how LKY did it overseas ? I suspect BAM is as backward as CBA whereby they are not ready to open to foreign/alien style of training.

Men's Doubles : This is the medals mining department in Olympics and World Championship. Right now they have almost ZERO answer to the in form Japanese Kobayashi/Hoki. Against other top 8 pairs, the outcome is as a good as a coin toss so it's hard to predict. But what is certain for the Aaron/Soh duo is that Soh Wooi Yik is the weakling and that has to be monitored. At the moment, no Malaysian pair has won any international title ? So plenty of time to split and experiment with new pairing until Paris 2024.

Women's Singles/Doubles : I still believe in foreign talent import like what Singapore is doing. This is necessary to improve their competitiveness, sparring regime...not only for cheap shot at medals. All of them are not good enough to even get past first/second rounds. I think England women's doubles players are even better than them.

Mixed Doubles : There are some promising pairs but they have not made any impact in any tournament by finishing at least in semifinals. None of the ladies are on par with Goh Liu Ying. Ironically the men (Hoo and Goh) are stronger and better than Chan PS.

Had to agree on this. BAM until now has a sense of pride that we're a badminton giant that we're one of the best in the world. Which is why after so many different legendary coaches we don't have much to shout about. Worst still after LCW retired we have zero answer on his replacement. Take Park Joo-Boong for example, after he left M'sia for Japan, the land of rising sun has seen massive improvement.

To move forward BAM really needs to come down and face the reality that Malaysia is no longer a giant in badminton world. Be humble and let professionals manage BAM, give full power to those professionals to manage the players and their training. Those so called politician related directors should just shut up and stop putting their dirty hands into BAM!

However~~~ this could be just a dream, I don't think this will happen anytime soon.

It wont be long until Hong Kong or Taiwan starts winning their first world championship too.
Taiwan nearly won theirs in Huelva but Tai Tzu Ying bottled it, saving Malaysia further from embarrassment.
As things stand in terms of ranking, I am sure it's the last straw on the camel's back if another non-badminton giant country wins a world championship next year.

Too bad in Malaysia, there's no "resign due to shame" culture like in Japan.

I agree with Yeung Chao , its the players mental issue. Which top single players did BAM produced after the semi retirement of Wong CHoon Hann. LCW emerge in 2003 and bloom from 2006 on wards where as Wong emerge from 1998 bloom from 2002 to 2004 before fading away.

When Wong was emerging Rashid Sidek was semi retired. Ong Ewe Hock was competent enough to fill the gaps before Wong bloom .

Wong semi retirement started after 2008. From 2008 until the emergence of Lee Zii Jia in 2017 how many back up men singles players who could at least win big tournaments emerged? Liew Daren was a false dawn in 2012 and he is still our second best MS player in 2021 and not part of BAM. I have look at CBA MS players such as Li Guang Zu who is not talented a bit awkward and ugly strokes and yet there was drive in him to push himself to perform.

Although the Culture starts in primary school but Badminton Academy Bukit Jalil should have been able to recalibrate the Players mind set by insulating them from the culture from which these players sprang . The talent and the basic skill is there but the players are relying too much on the coaches and not think for themselves. Loh Kean Yew coach is not some old big name player but he made it. yes he was initially forged from the same cultural millieu as the Malaysians but he was an import and was took out from that culture at formative age and he HAD to perform other wise he does not have any back up economic plan Sgpore other than to win honors for SG.

BAM and CBA share something in common. They are not open to foreign/new ways of training or sharing anything. The CBA appointment of Kang Kyung Jin as a doubles coach was a one off thing but it didnt really make much impact. China men's doubles are always their weakest department.
That is why China is more or less regressing and not producing any potential champions. Even their women doubles is super unreliable.

At least CBA is aware they are regressing from a badminton giant to an average joe, BAM thinks they are still a badminton powerhouse because of heavy pride in Thomas Cup 1992 and past All England glory. What a joke.

What's your opinion on the appointments of Han Jian, Yang Yang, Morten Frost, Indra Wijaya, Hendrawan, Park Joo Bong, Flandy, Rexy Mainaky, Indra Wijaya, Paulus Firman, Indra Gunawan employed by BAM coaching BAM players.

Are they not foreign to Malaysia?
