FYI : Candra Wijaya = Chen Jia Liang 陈甲亮 Tony Gunawan = Wu Jun Ming 吴俊明 because of politics in 60er in Indonesia
He isn't representing USA, he was entered + reccommended for entry under the national association of USA, which any player can be reccomended and entered for any country. Only TC/UC/SC/WC/OG are actually representing the country you enter under.
Believe me, I was looking for a chance to ask Punch about that today but he didn't have the time to sit around and chat like on previous days. Medal ceremonies and all. I'm sure he would have smelled from a mile away my intention to get something on the rumour mill. I'm sure he would have laughed it off or just said "no". I wish it could happen though. I'd like to see Tony & Candra take on the world again like in Sydney. Sorry guys. I spend 7 days on the inside and come out with zero inside information. Just a few out-of-focus pictures. I fear I've failed you.
A bit off topic-If interested, may want to read a bit abt it here.. (sorry, a bit late in replying to this post).. ..it's under a different topic header, but if you read from post #16 onwards, it'll tell a "rough" history behind it :http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38637 Btw, yes, Wijaya and Gunawan are Indonesian names. However, both of them are of chinese ancestry/descent:Tony Gunawan's chinese name is Wu Junming and Candra Wijaya's chinese name is Chen Jialiang..
