at least break the stranglehold that China has, and also gives indonesia something to cheer for in their home ground.

So sad that Lin and Bao are out. The title is virtually Taufik's!
No way Chen Hong could beat Taufik in Jakarta.
Li Yongbo must be sleeping for not charting Bao to play in final.

    Consolation for Malaysians..

I've made some quick calculations on the XD rankings.

Koo/Wong will be the first XD pair from Malaysia to make it to top 20 next week with 1341 point (world no 20, after just 4 tournaments together).
Should have no problem to qualify for WC next year.

A bit of a shame though that they couldn't get past England's second pair.

Also, Chin/Wong will be in the top 10 for the first time next week.

Not that the rankings matter much, but better seedings certainly help. When you are unseeded, you have to depend on luck.

I agree with you. In fact, the English pair is in the top 10 just because they have played more than 10 tournaments together. Their best achievement prior to Indonesian Open was last 8 in Singapore. Looking at the 2 pairs' achievement, most people will conclude that the Malaysians are the better pair. Well, perhap's KKK is really feeling the tiredness of playing 4 tournaments in a row (see below URL).

    http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2004/12/18/sports/9698073&sec=sports

Anyway, this pair has given us something to look forward in future for XD event. :)

One thing the IBF can certainly improve on is its results update. Still showing first round results. Totally unreliable in this respect. (Though undeniably, it is good at keeping records and statistics.)

In this Internet age, results should be in a few minutes after the match concluded, or even better, live scoring. Something like tennis grand slam kind of live scoring would be delicious ... I realise it's asking too much of our little sport here.

    Yeah, I agree.
It's a shame for them, especially since this is a 5-star event!

I watched the match between Saputra/Li and Blair/Munt in Singapore where Saputra/Li just managed to win. My impression is that Blair/Munt is no easy meat.

Thinking back, KKK did play in 4 tournaments in a row in both men's and mixed doubles and not just losing in early rounds, and mostly being unseeded too. Not bad for a young upstart.

China: Qfinals in both MD and XD
Singapore: Semi in MD and final in XD
    Taiwan: Winner in both events
Indonesia: L16 in MD and semifinals in XD

She lost to Englishwoman Tracey Hallam, not a player to be taken lightly, if you ask me.
