    Well, I never call people from Malaysia simply as Malay. I call them Malaysian (I live in Penang once). I only call Malay to Melayu people from Singapore and that is because my friends who are Melayu people told me to refer to them as such. So, I don't think it is an offensive term.

    My friends called me "Indon" when they are pissed off with me. That is how I came to know that it was a name assigned to make fun of Indonesian. I think it is better just to call people from Malaysia, Malaysian; Indonesia, Indonesian; Singapore, Singaporean. Everybody is happy :D.

    Yeah, thank you for not calling us "Indons"

    Btw, Uluh dayak, are you going to watch the Indonesian Open? I will be in Indonesia during the Indonesian Open and I plan to watch it. Too bad it is not in Jakarta :(

    Conflicting shcedule?

    Make sure I understand thess schedules right:
    Indonesia Open : April 31st to May 4th;
    Thomas Cup : April 28th to May 7th;
    So why even have a Indonesia Open when most of the top players are in Japan competing Thomas Cup?

    I believe kwun made a typo :D The correct date should be after Phil. Open, May 28th to June 4th. These will be followed by the neighbouring opens like Singapore and Malaysia Opens.

    U r rite !! The people that born and live in Malaysia is call "Malaysian". Then the 2nd question will be, what is your race? Either Chinese, Malay, Indian ....
    For me i am CHINESE !
    So wrong concept to CALL people that born and live in Malaysian as "Malay".
    The correct is is we are all "Malaysian". And i am CHINESE..

    You mean they haven't won any tournament lately because Bao took the Denmark Open in 2005 while Wong grabbed the 2003 China Open and a few others if I'm not mistaken.

    While Taufik is very good when he's on form and motivated, but lately it seems like he's not trying as hard maybe due to lack of motivation. I don't like that attitude/behavior because to me, if you are entering in a tournament, you should always try to do your best to win even if the tournament isn't a major or prestigious one. Why bother entering when you are not even going to try your best?

    I think the head to head between Taufik & WCH is 3-7.
    But don't know why the IBF website just show 3-5.

    A surprisingly competitive XD field. All the top 5 pairs, except for Zhang Jun/Gao Ling are there. It's gonna be very very difficult for Nova/Butet to retain their title....unless they can beat 2 of the pairs above them. My preference is for them to meet Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen in the semi-final. Hopefully, they will avoid other dangerous pairs such as Sudket/Saralee on the route to the semi-final.

    As for MD, good chance for Markis/Hendra and esp Luluk/Alvent to win the title. With Luluk/Alvent seeded 1st and Markis/Hendra seeded 6th, they should make the quarter-final with ease. No top pairs from China, Denmark, or Malaysia also means that the only pairs providing the challenge will be the 2 young Malaysian pairs, Guo Zhendong/Xie Zhongbo, and possibly Jung Jae Sung/Lee Yong Dae. With some luck in the draw, I hope Hendra/Joko will also make it to the quarter-final.

    Thanks for the info..

    Thanks dugz86 for the info,
    Not a surprise Taufik will play, as expected, as it was announced earlier and it will be the last coaching job for his coach, Mulyo...With reports that he's getting "healthier", I think he has a very good chance of winning this IO..
    But a bit surprise to see Mia coming and playing; I read she wasn't coming and/or had no plan coming..?!?!..:rolleyes:

    Finally, the world #1 shuttler is certainty absent in IO-06 after the organizer received the report from IBF yesterday.Quoted from CHN's Bdm Federation, the IO-organizer said LD is not in a good condition or he is really sick so the federation apologized if Indonesian public dissapointed about this condition (the organizer has promoted before that LD will play in Surabaya).As its consequence, CHN is still send their 2nd MS BCL (listed on 4th seed after LCW-LHI-KJ).Meanwhile, TH is well prepared to present his best perform in IO after his disaster losing in TC.Mia Audina is also already to be a champion here in Surabaya.She has been 2 weeks living and training in Jakarta to adapted the weather as her preparation to compete in this 6* tourney.Be ready for LD: LCW has a big mission to topple him from top-rank in next-week battle. Anyway,completely drawing result is not yet out now (still in process).

    i'm quite surprised that mia is willing to play in indonesia, she ever said that he wouldn't play any tournament in indonesia, she doesn't want to 'hurt' indonesian feeling, btw mia has decided she won't play in uber cup in jakarta 2008
