I read from the news, DD Sports(Indian TV Channel) will broadcat it everyday from 1400 hrs to 2000 hrs.

    Read the news here :

Syed Modi Grand Prix badminton from Dec 20

Lucknow, Dec 18 : World top shuttlers would be seen in action during the Yonex Sunrise Syed Modi Memorial 3rd International Grand Prix Gold Badminton Championship to be held here from December 20 to 25.

While the Indian challenge would be spearheaded by World No-4 Saina Nehwal, who has seeded the top rank in this tournment in the women section, and in the Mensingles Simon Santosa and Taufik Hidayat, both of Indonesia, have been seeded on the top.

Indian pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa have been seeded third in the Women's doubles while Jawla pairing with Diju V have been seeded fourth in the mixed doubles event.

This international tournament will be important for all the players as it would give them points to qualify for the next year's London Olympics.
Doordarshan Sports channel would telecast live the entire tournament every day from 1400 hrs to 2000 hrs.

However the tournament would miss the shuttlers from China and Korea, as players from both the countries are pre-occupied with international tourney in their own countries.

UP Badminton Association(UPBA) president Kunwar Fateh Bahadur said here that this year the championship has been raised to the status of Grand Prix Gold with a prize money of USD 1,20,000.

UPBA vice-president T P S Puri said Lucknow is expected to be alloted World Super Series in 2014 whose prize money would be USD 2,00,000.

Around 275 players from 32 countries, representing all the five continents would participate in this six day championship which has 178 players in the main draw and 38 in the qualifying draw.

The tournament will have five events in Men's singles, Women's singles, Men's doubles, Women's doubles and mixed doubles. (UNI)

India Open GPG has LiveScore available even on Qualifying day.
At least in this respect, the India Open GPG is more well organised than the Korea Open GPG.

Agree for LS facility, too bad many top names missed this tourney (except from INA :D) due to unfavourable schedule...

I see MAS is sending many national backup players and ZZ is also entered.

Now the backup players will have to prove themselves against ZZ if they should meet.

Singapore have 3 singles players, and the WD pair of Lei Yao and Shinta Mulia Sari who strangely enough, are not seeded!

I think the MAS and INA players must have chartered a flight or two! There must be 500 of them at this tournament!! :p

Notable trivia: Simon Santoso is #1 seed, Taufik is #2 seed. Who would've ever thought....

...And poor unseeded Sony has to fight hard for ranking points!

Surprised not to find Fu Mingtian in the list.

Those back-up players must show that they are not a liability to BAM.

I thought Arrakis is pretty hot since it is a desert planet.

But Toronto is pretty cold for us at around 7 degrees C. No snow?
Incidentally it is early morning at your end at around 02.45 am. You are a night owl.

Nights on Arrakis conversely, can be brutal!! :D And with 2 moons, the riptides can play havoc with the weather; storms, icy winds, and the sweet smell of spice! :p Loh, you've a devil: you've got me pining for my heart's home, now!! :crying::D

Nights in Toronto nowadays go down to -5 or thereabouts, so it's not too bad. Just one solitary morning of snow, yet. The real heavy weather begins January, and I can tell you it will get uncomfortable! :D Nothing compared to the more northerly cities though... :(

I am indeed a night-bird. The solitary hours help with my work... :)

7°C??!! That's positively balmy for Toronto. You'll see residents breaking out their sunscreen and shorts :D

We've had pleasant weather the past coupla days. Helps loosen wallets. Everyone is busy spending money they don't have (or shouldn't have :p) buying things no one really needs but everyone wants, and for reasons no one will really remember in a few months.

They think that constitutes the "season of goodwill." I say the "Season of Goodwill" will begin a few months later when people begin filling the used clothing bins or depositing stuff at the nearest Goodwill outlet. :p

So now you know my take on Christmas shopping. Bah! Humbug!:p
