Tan Kim Her and Mulyo Handoyo have applied for the posts of Doubles and Singles coaches respectively. Talks are currently on in finalising financial and accommodation details with Gopichand. It will be official only when they sign the contracts with SAI and arrive in India.
Mathias Boe was not interested in a full time role but a part time role and was not considered.

Hmm I don't think so that'll happen. Either there's no understanding bw PPBA and PGBA management with to taking services of NT coaches or PPBA management doesn't want to let go of their star kids. When Agus was there, neither LS nor Meiraba took or got any help from him. You can also see even Sidayat (who I believe is not just PGBA coach but also NT) doesn't help Lakshya.

Idk about siyadutt. Mulyo is different, if PPBA doesn’t want to avail his services then it is a great disservice to Nation.

Tbh, LS is in a good place now, I think he can beat all top10- 20 and most top 5-10 players and none of the top 5 players, a good coach can accelerate his growth to next level, there is good time for him to improve for Paris'24.

    https://indianexpress.com/article/s...-ropes-in-korean-coach-yoo-yong-sung-7667803/

Korean coach Yoo Yong-sung, a two-time Olympic silver medallist in men’s doubles from Athens and Sydney, will take over as the foreign head coach at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy (PPBA). Young shuttler Lakshya Sen will best benefit from the tactical expertise and training nous of the former Olympic medallist.

Yong-sung’s coaching fees will be entirely borne by the academy sponsors and Olympic God Quest. “He’s a very good coach coming in full-time. And he will decide on every aspect of planning of the elite players at PPBA,” said Viren Rasquinha, MD and COO of OGQ.

“OGQ and PPBA have been scouting coaches from across the world for the last one year – from Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia and Denmark. The pandemic obviously delayed things a bit. But I am glad we have finally narrowed down on Yoo and he has accepted our offer until Paris 2024. Very exciting few years ahead for Lakshya and the rest of the young players at PPBA. OGQ has supported Lakshya for 10 years now. But these next 3 years will be the most important in his career,” Rasquinha added.

Yoo Yong Sung has experience as coach in Korea, Malaysia, and China. He will bring in high level physical fitness standards, planning, preparation for the elite tournaments. Yoo has enough experience as coach to understand the training and nuances of singles. This is a good move by PPBA.

There goes any hope of a centralized national training facility, I didn't think the division between both elite academies is this deep rooted that they'd prefer to get different foreign coaches.

That said, this is good news and LS will surely benefit from YYS, they need to do something about high level sparring for LS now. Exciting times for Indian MS, a lot of juniors with potential and good coaches coming to help them.

That’s the sad state of Indian badminton- players getting stuck between different training facilities. Mulyo’s appointment will be beneficial for the improvement of of LS, Meiraba if BAI makes sure they too get a chance to train under him. My gut feel is PR will be the one who will mostly reap the benefits

I won't complain if PR and other juniors from PGBA will be benefit from Mulyo and make justice to their potential. But I feel it is quite sad for LS and Meiraba to not have opportunity to avail Mulyo's training. I've always spoken about how centralized training can help in this regard, players will have both best coaches and also best sparring, PR, LS and Meiraba all get to train under YYS, Mulyo and get best sparring from each other. Is it so hard to train in Hyd for 6 months and Blr for 6 months ?

This is the current state of India where players like Lakshya Sen was not given proper training by the national coaches instead his academy has to bring in foreign talents to coach him with their own funds whereas PR and other average players from Gopichand's academy who will benefit from great coaches from outside with the money from the government. There are so many talented players all over india who are without proper facilities and coaches . Gopichand absorbs all the money from the government in the name of "National academy" but continues to coach privately to all other players using the government money and resources . Unfortunate. We can't do anything about it. Jwala gutta was loud about this injustice and retired. But we are able to see clearly in front of us what is happening but still we could not do anything.
I still remember in one of the TOPS scheme, where they included Gurusaidutt when he was not even part of Olympics. When asked about that, they gave a vague explaination that the money will be used not only for one person but will be used for the improvement of a 'Group'.
These underlying situation hurts me. I do feel some good players from across INDIA come out successfully better than Gopichand's 'private' players like PR who benefited from Government money though he is just an average player.
Only solution to this to build an OWN National academy instead of relying on private academies as they are so money minded and selfish . So that our tax payers money wont be wasted like this. Will they do it? Nah...

It was painful to watch sai praneeth last night.. Gill clarke said before the match that he has all the skills but she wondered whether ''he has the stamina'' - politely putting it.

First game praneeth won.. Second game he lost under 10 i suppose. Third game he upped the pace and was 14-8 up... Had an upper hand.. Then he started taking breaks for a breather.. Both the opponent and umpire were pissed.. But it wasn't enough... He was too tired and dehydrated. Lost on 18 or 19 and having a significant lead in the decider against Mark Caljouw, who was playing after a cardiac surgery.

    Lakshya Sen Post match Interview:
    -----------------------------------------

“I’m very happy, it was a pressure match,Credit to him as well, he was playing at a good pace, even though he’d played long matches earlier. It was a tough and close match, so it feels good. I was on the faster side at the end of the match. More than hitting smashes, I was prepared to follow it up at the net. So that worked well in the last three points. I was confident in rallying it out. Both us made some mistakes. At 20-all I slipped but I managed to pull off a winner and I got a bit lucky. I haven’t played Srikanth in three years, it’s been a while, so it will be a good match. He’s playing really well, he’s beaten opponents in single digits this week. I’m also playing well, and we both play an attacking style. Let’s see who makes the final. India is assured of a finalist, so that’s a good thing. I will go all out."

    Srikanth's Post Match Interview:
    ---------------------------------------

“Just very happy to be in the semifinals of the World Championships,” said Kidambi. “I just told myself I had to be in the match, I didn’t want to give a big lead or make easy mistakes, I had to be focussed.

“I’m happy to reach this stage. Coming into this tournament, I was only thinking of the first round. From there it was only about the next match.”

    Yesterday was mixed feelings.
Initially I was a bit disappointed when Sindhu lost again to TTY.
But after Srikanth's terrific performance and Lakshya's nice victory, I was very delighted. First time we are assured of 2 medals in MS. And at least one will be better than bronze, meaning someone is going to surpass Prakash Padukone's record in world championships.

I wondered if HSP can make it triple delight for us Indians, but turns out he couldn't. But he played well. I think we saw HS Prannoy in good form after a long time. But he has to take his speed to the next level if he wants to beat Loh KY.

And boy, I need to say something about Loh KY. I remember seeing this guy in PBL 2019 (IIRC) and thinking this guy is good and seems to be underrated - should be in top 20. But last 2 months, Loh KY has taken it to the next level and deserves to be in top 5 at least, if not top 3(alongside Victor Axelsen and Kento Momota).

Also, seeing that this surname is Loh, and that he is also representing Singapore, I wonder if is he related to Mr.Loh who posts here.

Loh's improvement seems to have come after his one month training with Axelsen in Dubai. Even Lakshya attended that training for half a month. Lakshya has improved a bit as well.

Srikanth or Lakhsya whoever makes it to the finals, will have a tough job in finals. But that said Srikanth was quite impressive, and Lakshya seems to have improved in the last few months. So I am not giving up hope. May be can really win the gold afterall.

Srikanth Kidambi and Lakshya Sen played a match worthy of a final, it was engrossing and a treat to watch! It was played with good sportsmanship and intensity. If they were on opposites sides of the draw could this have been an all Indian final? Srikanth was slow to start and almost paid the price but he dug deep and prevailed. Both players can hold their heads high and look to build on this in future tournaments.

Sai Praneeth was a passenger who was out of place among the Indian MS players at WC.
