INA Pelatnas players will not join the last series of BWF-SS tournament in Hongkong as preparation to compete 24th South East Asia Games (SEAG) Nakhon Ratchasima, 6-16 December 2007. It happens because badminton is one of INA priority sport to grab gold medal and particularly to upgrade INA ranking at medal standing from 5th to 4th position. Similar with 2005 Manila SEAG result, INA also targeting 4 badminton gold in this year SEAG.

Rita Subowo, President of Indonesia's National Olympic Committee ensured Taufik Hidayat and compatriots will be absent in Hongkong when she visited Pelatnas Cipayung Jakarta, Monday (06/08).

Lius Pongoh, PBSI Head of Athlete's Performance Building said the problem will appear because YONEX as Pelatnas main sponsor oblige the players to participate in Hongkong. About what kind of sanction, Lius has not certain yet.

INA bdm squad for SEAG 2007:
    * Man's sector : TH, Sony, Simon, Nova Widianto, Flandy Limpele, Markis Kido, Hendra Setiawan, Joko Riyadi, Hendra AG and Alvent Yulianto.

    * Woman's sector : Adriyanti Firdasari, Maria Kristin, Pia Zebadiah, Lilyana Natsir, Vita Marissa, Jo Novita, Greysia Polii, Rani Mundiasti, Endang Nursugianti and Lita Nurlita.

Really ridiculuos, INA still represented by same shuttlers in all level multisport event (SEAG-AG-OG)! When the next generation get the chance to develop their skill and gain some competing experience??

Indonesia may skip HK badminton super series

Indonesia may not participate in the Hong Kong Super Series later this year to allow shuttlers to get prepared for the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

Indonesia has targeted to win four gold medals from badminton in the biennial event to be held in Thailand on Dec. 6 - 16. Meanwhile, the Hong Kong event has been scheduled for Nov. 27 - Dec. 2.

"The PBSI (Badminton Association of Indonesia) must drop the Hong Kong Super Series because of the schedule," National Sports Council (KONI) chairwoman Rita Subowo was quoted Tuesday by English daily The Jakarta Post as saying.

"Besides, the SEA Games will not disturb next year's Beijing Olympic Games qualification," she said.

But men's single ace Taufik Hidayat objected to the policy, saying he was still lacking points after missing the All England and Swiss Open in March.

"Why don't we just fly directly to Thailand from Hong Kong?" asked the 25-year old who hopes to retain his Olympic crown.

PBSI coach Lius Pongoh said the decision to drop the Hong Kong event might cause a financial row with main sponsor Yonex.

"Yonex requires us to compete in Hong Kong. We may have a dispute with them later,"he said.

Thats right ...but I think INA wil particiapte HK as Yonex may fine them plus it is about time for INA to send younger players to SEA Games...sometimes, KONI has no brain...or we call it " Kia su"...Also INA has 5 days to rest....sometimes those officials need to be briefed...

Yeah, there was lack of coordination between KONI and PBSI officials... They don't actually have to skip anything... They can go to HK and Sea Games. No problem...

The current chief of PELTI is Mrs. Martina Wijaya, the Godmother of INA Tennis.
She also forced some top players to play in SEA Games while Thailand didn't send top player. Angelique Widjaja or Wynne Prakusya flied from Wimbledon or US Open only 2 or 3 days different, Angie ever failed to play in individual because of tired (she played in 2nd week of Grand Slams).

The SEA Games will be held in Thailand this year from 6-15 Dec.

Just read from the Star that MAS will only send Kuan Beng Hong, a senior MD pair Gan Teik Chai/Lin Woon Fui and the upcoming XD pair Tan Wee Kiong/Woon Khe Wei. The rest of the squad will come from Project 2010-2012 like Mohd Arif Latif, Tan Chun Seang and Chan Kwong Beng.

Why can't INA do the same thing ?

Good.. BAM make a wise move to send Youngster for Sea Games to gain exposure.. Both TCS/ Arif/CKB has been performing well this year either in Satelite / AJC
Hopes they can shows that they are capable to play in team events too.

INA is too scary take a risk that the youngsters can't reach 4 golds. Overall, really pessimistic INA can improve its position at medal table in SEAG. 10 years ago (1997) INA is the king in this region but now...

We were sort of prospering then...

Leading up to 1997, we did not have 10 year of sports-underfunding due to economic and political crisis.

I was informed that PBSI top players will definitely not skip the HK Open! :D They plan to skip the China Open! Due to the INA National Championship 1 week before that...

Anyway, by now I am quite convinced that if the MAS opposition are like the above mentioned, PBSI can just send:
    Simon, Tommy, Alamsyah [MS]
    Joko-Hendra, Bona-Ahsan [MD]
    Firdasari, Nana, Pia [WS]
    Rani-Endang, Yulianti-Richi [WD]
    Tantowi-Yulianti, Lingga-Nadia [XD]
and still win some SEA Games golds here and there... :D

If Thailand sends Boonsak, then Simon might go to rubber sets, but still beat Boonsak. This happens time and time again... If Thailand sends their best WD, then INA is screwed, but hey you get some, you loose some... :D

    Krisna, one question:

Why Pelatnas still need to compete Kejurnas? I do notsee the needs for TH, SDK or Simon to compete there...China open is important for SS final as well as Olympics points....is there any motive behind this skipping of CHina open?
